👕 T-shirt Contest

• Contest Details: Create a t-shirt design in honor of your team!
• Submission: Drop off a t-shirt at the main stage or come to the stage at 11:30am.
• Judging: Judged by the best emcee there is, Sam Newton.
• Prize: We will have a special prize for the winner!

🏆 Prizes

• Top Fundraiser: Prizes awarded for top fundraiser!
• Largest Team: Compete for bragging rights with your friends and family!

5k Race Details

• Race Type: The 5k race is a timed race.
• Participants: Receive a finisher medal and a shirt.
• Registration Deadline: To be guaranteed a medal and a shirt, registration must be in by March 15th, 2025.
• Top Finishers: The top 3 males and females will receive a prize for their efforts.

🚶‍♀️ 1 Mile Walk

• Walk Type: The 1 mile walk is untimed for those that do not want to be timed.
• Inclusions: A shirt is included.
• Registration Deadline: To be guaranteed a shirt, registration must be in by March 15th, 2025.

⭐ Star Walk

• Purpose: Honor those we are running and walking for! Open to any Autistic individual.
• Experience: Walk a short aisle as the crowd cheers you on just for being you!
• Shirt Inclusion: Each participant gets a t-shirt with their registration.
• Registration Deadline: Must be completed by March 15th, 2025, to be guaranteed a shirt.

📜 History of the Event

Ellen was a wonderful Occupational Therapist, teacher, friend, inspiration, and driving force to many in the field of autism. She had a magical way with autistic individuals and their families. Ellen had served the New Mexico Autism Society’s Board of Directors as President, Treasurer, and workhorse for many years. She also helped many children, teachers, and therapists as a member of the APS Autism Resource Team. We lost Ellen to cancer in 2009, but her spirit will remain with all who knew her.

Because of Ellen and her dedication to the autism community, New Mexico Autism Society decided to honor her memory with this race. Each year, the New Mexico autism community gathers at Balloon Fiesta Park to help raise acceptance, to educate, and celebrate our autistic community and their families. The race is our biggest fundraiser of the year and helps fund all the programs and events we host.
