5K on the Runway benefiting the P47 Foundation INC

✈️ Race Overview

How EXCITING it will be to run on our airport runway!!!

Take off on Saturday, May 3, 2025, for the 2025 5K on the Runway, presented by the Evansville Wartime Museum, benefiting the Evansville P-47 Foundation, Inc. giving runners a unique view of the airport and the Evansville Wartime Museum, while having fun and supporting a great, local organization.

At 9am join hundreds of runners and walkers as they take off from the Evansville Wartime Museum with supporters cheering everyone along. The route will take you along the Evansville Regional Airport runways, taxiways, and ramps, while catching a glimpse of the Air Traffic Control Tower and the Airport Safety Department. You will see the Evansville built P-47 Thunderbolt, “Hoosier Spirit II,” as well as the 1943 Chrysler M4AF Sherman Tank, “Rosie’s Revenge.”

• Mission Support: All proceeds from the 5K on the Runway will support the mission of the P-47 Foundation by protecting and procuring in perpetuity the P-47 Thunderbolt.
• Community Pride: The effort honors those who served and educates current and future generations in respect for those who sacrificed for Freedom.
• Post-Race Activities: Stick around afterwards for award presentations, delicious food, coffee, and vendors with their running apparel and other community programs.
• Date: Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Road, Evansville, IN 47725.

🕒 Event Schedule

• 5K Run: 9am
• 1 Mile Walk: 9:05am on a separate part of the runway
• Kid’s Dash: 8:30am at the Evansville Wartime Museum

💵 Registration and Entry Fee

• 5K & 1 Mile Walk Fee: $25 until February 14, 2025: $30 afterwards: $35 from May 1 to May 3, 2025.
• Kid’s Dash Fee: $5 includes a medal for participation.
• Shirt Size: Register by April 12th to guarantee your shirt size.
• Race Day Registration: Available from 7:00 to 8:15 am for $35.

📦 Packet Pickup

T-Shirts, race bib numbers and registration packets will be available for pickup on Friday, May 2, 2025, between 11am-6pm, and on May 3, 2025 beginning at 7:00 am at the Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Rd, Evansville, IN 47725. T-shirts will be distributed to each participant to wear during the event.

👶 Kid’s Dash

• Ages: Children from 1 to 9 years old.
• Distance: 50m to 150m based on age.
• Cost: $5 per child, includes a medal.
• Starting Time: 8:30am.

🏆 Awards

First place trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female runners in the 5K run/walk. First place medals will be given to winners in each age bracket. 1 mile walkers will receive a medal for participation and will not be timed.

⏱️ Results and Timing

The 5K event will be chip timed. Race results will be available online immediately following the event. Participants will receive results via email if an email address is provided on your entry form.

Please note: ALL REGISTRATIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. The race will be officially timed by "To the Finish." Results will be posted at www.tothefinishtiming.com.

🌦️ Race Day

The race must go on!!! There will be no cancellations for inclement weather. We will delay the start if there is lightning in the immediate area.

🚗 Parking

Parking is available from 7 am to 12:00 pm at SRG Global at the corner of St. George Rd and HWY 41 North, Evansville, Indiana and at Anchor Industries at 7701 Hwy 41 North, Evansville, IN. Shuttle service will be provided from these locations to the Evansville Wartime Museum.

Handicap parking will be available at the Evansville Wartime Museum: notification for accessibility must be sent to Cathy Renner.

🎟️ Benefits to Everyone

As a result of this fundraiser, individuals and family members wishing to visit the Evansville Wartime Museum may do so on race date for a special rate of $5 per person.

✈️ Young Eagles Flights for Children

Following the event, starting at 11am, EAA Chapter 21 will sponsor free flights for children ages 8-17 through the Young Eagles Program. Limited seats available, must sign up online before the event. For more information: https://chapters.eaa.org/eaa21/young-eagles.
