5K on the Runway benefiting the P47 Foundation INC

🎉 How EXCITING it will be to run on our airport runway!!!

Take off on Saturday, May 3, 2025, for the 2025 5K on the Runway, presented by the Evansville Wartime Museum, benefiting the Evansville P-47 Foundation, Inc. giving runners a unique view of the airport and the Evansville Wartime Museum, while having fun and supporting a great, local organization.

At 9am join hundreds of runners and walkers as they take off from the Evansville Wartime Museum with supporters cheering everyone along. The route will take you along the Evansville Regional Airport runways, taxiways, and ramps, while catching a glimpse at the Air Traffic Control Tower and the Airport Safety Department. You will see the Evansville built P-47 Thunderbolt, “Hoosier Spirit II,” as well as the 1943 Chrysler M4AF Sherman Tank, “Rosie’s Revenge.”

• Support Mission: All proceeds from the 5K on the Runway will support the mission of the P-47 Foundation by protecting and procuring in perpetuity the P-47 Thunderbolt in an effort to honor those who served and to educate current and future generations in the sense of community pride, recognition, and respect attributed to all who sacrificed in the name of Freedom.
• Post-event Festivities: Stick around afterwards for award presentations, delicious food, coffee, and vendors with their running apparel and other community programs.

📅 Date and Location:

• Race Schedule: The 5K run will be at 9am and 1 mile will be held at 9:05 am on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
• Location: The event will take place at the Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Road, Evansville, IN 47725.
• Kid’s Dash: The Kid’s Dash race will be held at 8:30 am at the Evansville Wartime Museum.

💵 Registration and Entry Fee:

• 5K Fees: The 5K run and 1 mile walk registration fee is $25 until February 14, 2025, and $30 afterwards.
• Late Registration: From May 1 to May 3, 2025, the registration fee increases to $35.00.
• Kid’s Dash: The Kid’s Dash registration fee is $5.00 and includes a medal for their participation.
• T-Shirt Orders: Register by April 12th to guarantee your shirt size. We will order extras but the extras will be at a first come, first pick basis.

📝 Registration on Race Day:

If you decide to join the fun at the last minute, you may register on the north side of the Evansville Wartime Museum on race day from 7:00 to 8:15 am. You may pay by cash or check and the cost is $35.00.

📦 Packet Pickup:

T-Shirts, race bib numbers and registration packets will be available for pickup on Friday, May 2, 2025, between 11am-6pm, and on May 3, 2025 beginning at 7:00 am at the Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Rd, Evansville, IN 47725. T-shirts will be distributed to each participant to wear during the event. While registering online, you will be asked for your t-shirt size.

👶 Kid’s Dash:

Children from the age of 1 to 9 years old may participate in the Kid’s Dash race on their own. Beginning at 8:30 am, the Kid’s Dash race is from 50 meters to 150 meters. All finishers of the Kid’s Dash will receive a medal.

• 1–3-year-olds: 50 meters
• 4-6-year-olds: 100 meters
• 7-9-year-olds: 150 meters
• Cost: $5 per child and includes a medal after each heat.

🏆 Awards:

First place trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female runners in the 5K run/walk. First place medals will be given to winners in each age bracket who have participated in the 5K run/walk, Age Groups (1st male and female in each group): 1-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-99. 1 mile walkers will each receive a medal for their participation and will not be timed.

⏱️ Results and Timing:

The 5K runners and the 5K runners/walkers will be chip timed. Race results will be available online immediately following the event. Participants will receive results via email if an email address is provided on your entry form.

Please note: ALL REGISTRATIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. The race will be officially timed by “To the Finish.” Results will be posted at www.tothefinishtiming.com.

🌧️ Race Day:

The race must go on!!! There will be no cancellations for inclement weather. We will delay the start if there is lightning in the immediate area.

🚗 Parking:

Parking is available from 7 am to 12:00 pm at the Thunderbolt Golf Range at 6901 Petersburg Road, Evansville, Indiana and at Anchor Industries at 7701 Hwy 41 North, Evansville, IN. Shuttle service will be provided from these locations to the Evansville Wartime Museum.

Handicap parking will be available at the Evansville Wartime Museum for accessibility purposes: however, notification of this need for a handicap parking spot must be sent to Cathy Renner, Chair and Director of Development for the P-47 Foundation at crenner@p47foundation.org.

🎟️ Benefits to everyone:

As a result of this fundraiser, individuals and family members wishing to visit the Evansville Wartime Museum may visit and explore on race date only, May 3, 2025, for a special rate of $5 per person.

✈️ Young Eagles Flights for Children ages 8-17:

Following the event starting at 11am, EAA Chapter 21 will sponsor free flights for children ages 8-17 through the Young Eagles Program. Limited Seats available. Must Sign Up online before the event. To sign up and for more information: https://chapters.eaa.org/eaa21/young-eagles.
