UNC SNDA Oral Cancer 5K Run/Walk

🏃‍♂️ Event Details

• When: Sunday April 6, 2025 at 7:30AM EST (rain or shine)
• Where: Bynum Hall, 222 East Cameron Ave, Chapel Hill NC 27514
• Parking: Any lot nearby is open and free on Sundays (ex. Swain Lot, Hanes Lot). You can also park anywhere on Franklin St and walk over!
• Race Route: The running route will be the Franklin 5K, a USATF-certified course. Electronic chip timing will be used. Strollers and wagons welcome.

🎖️ Registration Information

• Payment: $25.00 + $3.25 processing fees (Pre-registration by Friday, April 4th)
• Day-of registration: $30.00 + $3.25 processing fees (Sunday, April 6th starting at 6:30am)
• Time: Day-of registration will be available from 7:00-7:30AM on race-day at the check-in table.
• T-Shirt: Participants who pre-register by Friday, March 14th will be guaranteed a free T-shirt. Participants who sign up between March 15th and April 6th will receive a T-shirt as available.

🏅 Awards

• Overall Prizes: Prizes will be given to the overall first, second, and third place male and female runners.
• Age Group Prizes: Top three male and female runners in each age group: under 19, 20-34, 35-49, 50-64, 65+.
• Packet Pickup: Packets (race bib with pins) and T-shirts will be distributed the morning of the race.
• Activities: Self-screening education and fun games/activities for the whole family!

• Processing Fees: The website's processing fee is reduced if you register more people per transaction. For example, if you register your friend and yourself in one transaction, the fee is reduced from $3.25 to $1.62.

In honor of UNC Adam’s School of Dentistry’s very own oral cancer survivor, Dr. Scott Eidson, all proceeds will be donated to Dr. Aimin Peng's research lab within ASOD which primarily focuses on oral cancer and DNA repair. Dr. Peng's research plays a critical role in exploring innovative therapeutic strategies that could significantly improve the treatment outcomes for oral cancer patients.
