Mission: At Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSOM), our mission is to "serve society using a community-based, patient-centered, interprofessional, and evidence-based model."
Community Commitment: As part of our commitment to the community, we are organizing the 15th annual Turkey Trot 5K/10K walk/run to benefit Friends of the Poor.
Date: This yearβs event will take place Sunday, November 3rd!
Location: The race starts at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and makes its way down to the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail.
ποΈ Race Details
Start Time: The race will start at 8am.
Registration: Support the community by registering for our 5K walk/run for $30 or our 10K walk/run for $40.
Online Registration: Online registration will remain open until November 1st at noon. On-site registration will be available at an increased price.
Race Material Pick-Up: We encourage everyone to pick up their race material on Saturday, November 2nd from noon to 4 PM in the GCSOM lobby (525 Pine Street).
πΆ Tiny Trot
Activity: The event will include a Tiny Trot, featuring a fun Turkey Trot relay for kids of all ages!
Craft Supplies: Supplies will be provided for a themed craft to be completed on race day!

Friends of the Poor: Turkey Trot benefits Friends of the Poor, a non-profit agency that has served the Scranton area since 1986.
Mission: The organization seeks to ease the burden of living in poverty and enhance the quality of life for all.
Services: They operate eight food pantries, and offer clothing, furniture, household items, utility assistance, medical transportation, summer camps, after-school programs, among other programs.
