The Barley Chase is a USATF Certified 5k/10k race located in Newport, NC. Race day is Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 9:00 am. The race starts and ends at Shortway Brewing Co. and meanders through the heart of Newport.

🏆 Awards and Age Divisions
- Overall Awards: Awards will be given to overall top 3 males & females.
- Age Division Awards: Top 2 in each age division for both males and females.
- Age Divisions: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & above.
- Water Stations: Water stations will be set up at the halfway points of each course.
📅 Packet Pickup Information
Packet pickup will take place Saturday, October 19th 2-5 PM at Shortway Brewing Co. or you can pick up the morning of the race starting at 8:00 am at the registration table located behind the brewery on Haskett St.
🖥️ Registration Details
- Online Registration: Closes at 11:59 PM on Friday, October 19th or when the race sells out.
- Waitlist: Opens after the race is full on a first come, first served basis.
- Registration Notification: If a spot becomes available, first in line will receive an email and have 24 hours to register.
- Early Bird Pricing: Runs through June 30th, after which prices increase by $5.
💖 Community Impact
This race is held annually in conjunction with Shortway Brewing Company's anniversary party and will benefit nonprofit 501(c)(3), Bread & Barley. Bread & Barley is a church that runs on volunteers and has no building expenses: therefore, all proceeds will be used to meet needs right here in our local community.
