Origin: The inspiration for the first annual Mind over Miles 5K Run and 1M Walk came from our Board member, Bret Buike (“Buckeye Bret”) who donated to Recovery Resources, all the proceeds of his third annual Goggins Challenge.
Challenge Concept: The Goggins 4x4x48 challenge is a simple concept that was pioneered by ultramarathon runner David Goggins.
Purpose: Bret had a vision to make the weekend focused on recovery, mental health, and veterans’ suicide prevention.
Event Significance: We were proud to have him complete his challenge at the Mind over Miles event.
