Mind over Miles

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

The inspiration for the first annual Mind over Miles 5K Run and 1M Walk came from our Board member, Bret Buike (“Buckeye Bret”) who donated to Recovery Resources, all the proceeds of his third annual Goggins Challenge.

💡 Challenge Background

• Concept: The Goggins 4x4x48 challenge is a simple concept that was pioneered by ultramarathon runner David Goggins.
• Distance: Depending on your level of ability, you either walk or run 4 miles every four hours for 48 hours which totals 48 miles.
• Vision: Bret had a vision to make the weekend one focused on recovery, mental health and veterans’ suicide prevention.
• Event Completion: We were proud to have him complete his challenge at the Mind over Miles event.

🏥 Community Impact

The Third Annual Mind over Miles 5K Run and 1M Walk brings together runners, walkers, businesses and community partners. This event provides support that makes a significant difference in the health of our community. The Nord Center offers prevention, treatment and advocacy services through 5 core programs:

• Adult Behavioral Health: Support for adults struggling with mental health issues.
• Children's Behavioral Health: Services for children in need of mental health support.
• Crisis Services: Immediate support for individuals in crisis.
• Sexual Assault Services: Resources and support for sexual assault victims.

🕖 Race Details

• Start Time: Registration/Packet Pick Up - 8:00am
• Event Start: 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk - 9:00am
• Distances: 5K Run/Walk, 1 Mile Fun Run
• Timing: 5K - Chip Timed, 1 Mile - Untimed

💰 Registration Information

• Pre-Registration: 5k Run and 1 Mile walk ($25) until 11:59pm on Saturday August 9th
• Mail Entry Deadline: All mailed entries must be received by Wednesday, August 6th, 2024

Dogs are allowed but we ask that you line up in the back and have a short leash.
