Grant G. Talbott, III Memorial 5K Run/Walk

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

Join us for the 38th Annual Grant G. Talbott Road Race! We hope you will help us celebrate this milestone race and OCTC’s anniversary by ensuring student success. Proceeds from this race support the Grant G. Talbott Scholarship that assists students experiencing dire financial need. Grant G. Talbott, III served as a counselor at OCTC for 10 years and coordinated the OCTC Road Race from 1998-2007. A mentor and friend to many, Grant will long be remembered for his commitment to education and student success. This run-walk is committed to honoring his legacy.

📍 Location

Race Day Registration begins Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 7:30am at:

• Venue: Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC)
• Address: 4800 New Hartford Road
• City: Owensboro, KY 42303

Complimentary shuttles are available to take racers to the start line at:

• Location: Legion Park
• Address: Byers Avenue
• City: Owensboro, KY 42303

The last shuttle departs from OCTC to Legion Park at 8:40am. The race starts at 9am.

✅ Check-In

• Start Time: Race day check-in and registration begins at 7:30am on OCTC’s Main Campus.
• Parking: Runners are encouraged to park at the main campus.
• T-shirt: All pre-registered participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Late entries are not guaranteed shirt size preference.
• Registration Deadline: To ensure you receive a t-shirt in your road race packet, participants must complete their registration by October 13, 2024.

🏁 Start Details

THIS IS A POINT TO POINT COURSE.

The race begins at 9am at Legion Park on East Byers Avenue: the route follows Veach Road to the main campus of OCTC. Race starts at 9am.

🏅 Finish Line

The race finishes at OCTC’s Main Campus.

🎉 Prizes and Drawings

Door prizes and a $250 cash drawing will be awarded when the last finisher completes the course. Trophies and awards will immediately follow. All entrants must register and be present to win the door prizes.

🏆 Awards Categories

Awards will be given to:

• Overall Male and Female: finishers
• Masters: (40+) and Grandmasters (50+)
• Top Three Finishers: in age groups (14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+).
• Note: Virtual participants are not eligible for race day awards.

👕 T-shirt Sizes

• Adult: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, XX Large
• Youth: Youth Small, Youth Medium, Youth Large

💲 Pricing

• Entry Fee: Early Bird pricing through September 13, 2024 is $25. Regular registration is $35 through race morning.
• Family of 4: $80 (+$5 each additional family member, all entries must be submitted at the same time, by Oct. 7th)
• Current OCTC Student: $20.00
