This exciting event takes place on Sunday, July 20th, 2025 at 5517 Northwest Hwy, Crystal Lake, IL.
š Event Overview
- Year: 2025 marks the 8th Annual event.
- Location: Three Oaks Recreational Center, Crystal Lake, IL.
- Unique Race: It's the only aquathon in the state of Illinois.
- Beneficiaries: All proceeds benefit Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois.

Timed Races
- Sprint Distance: 500m swim, 5k run.
- Olympic Distance: 1 mile swim, 10k run.
- Swim Distances: 2 Mile Swim and 1 Mile Swim (the latter does not include awards but is timed).
- Swim Environment: Modified quarry with a swim around 3 islands, followed by a run on mixed terrain.
š§ Kids' Race
The Kids' Race is designed for participants ages 7-12 with a shorter distance, featuring:
- Distance: 250m swim and 1 mile run.
- Included: Swag and swim cap for all participants.
- Finisher's Medal: All Kids' Race participants will receive a medal, though no awards are given.
- Safety Measures: Lifeguards will be present, and a relay option is available.
āæ Adaptive Race
The Adaptive Race will consist of a one-mile swim, providing:
- Support: Physical support from family/friends is allowed for protection.
- Equipment: Adaptive equipment may be utilized in the water as needed.
- Inclusivity: Focus on participating regardless of ability.
š Race Day Schedule and Packet Pick-Up
- Packet Pick Up: Friday, 7/18 (3:00pm-6:00pm) and Saturday, 7/19 (9:00am-12:00pm) at Smith Physical Therapy and Running Academy.
- Race Day Check-In: Sunday, 7/20 (6:00am-7:00am at Three Oaks Recreation Center).
- Weather Policy: Inclement weather decisions will be made by the City of Crystal Lake's Fire Department.
- Wetsuit Rules: Allowed if the water temperature is 78 degrees or lower.
š Awards and Celebrations
Following the race, join us for a post-race party with food and beverages provided (participant only). Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in sprint, Olympic, and 2-mile swim categories. No awards for kids, adaptive, relay races, or the 1-mile swim.
Stay afterward to enjoy all that Three Oaks has to offer: swimming, sailboat and paddle board rentals, scuba diving, children's playground/splash park, volleyball, fishing, and more fun in the sun!
