Virginia BBQ: Redbird Run 5K Walk/Run

🏁 Registration and Packet Pickup

• Race Start: 8:00 am.
• Packet Pickup: Begins at 7:00 am at the Virginia High School entrance.
• Online Registration: Will be closed at the time of pickup.
• Parking: Available in the Virginia School lots or near the ball diamonds.

🎉 General Information

• Event Type: Redbird Run is a fun 5K run and walk hosted during the Virginia, IL BBQ.
• Festival Features: The Virginia BBQ includes a pageant, vendors, parade, carnival rides, and tons of entertainment from June 6-8.
• Virtual 5K: We will also be holding a virtual 5K for our runners away from the BBQ.
• Community Support: This event is supported by a dashing community.

🏆 Cross Country Team

• Team Composition: The Virginia Cross Country Team is made up of fifth to eighth graders from Virginia and Triopia schools.
• Season Details: The team participates in sixteen meets around the central area from August to October.
• State Meet: Last year, two athletes (one male, one female) competed in the State Meet in Normal, IL.
• Achievements: Six letter winners achieved personal bests by the end of the season.

💰 Event Purpose

• Funding Use: Money raised will be used to celebrate student success during and after the season.
• New Gear: Funds will go towards new uniforms and workout equipment.

🚩 In Person Race Information

• Start and End: Race will begin and end near Virginia School.
• Route Highlights: The race will pass by the Virginia BBQ Square, Cass County Fair Grounds, Rexroat Prairie, Virginia Park, and showcase the city of Virginia.

🌍 Virtual Race Information

• Registration: During registration, you will be asked if you will compete for the Redbird Run 5K Virtual.
• Running Details: Run 3.1 miles anytime during the week leading up to Redbird Run (6/1/25 - 6/7/25) wherever you want.
• Submission: Submit your run time by screenshot or a picture of your run to xcvirginiarun@gmail.com by midnight of the 7th.
• Aim for Awards: Submission of time and name are only necessary for the overall winner.

🥇 Prizes

• Awards: Will be given to the top male and female runners in each category.
• In Person Categories: Overall, 14 & Under, 15-21, 22-40, 41-60, 61+
• Virtual Categories: Overall.
