Capital City Biathlon & 5K

📅 Event Details

• Date: Saturday, May 24th, 2025
• Time: Starting at 8 am
• Location: Danenberger Family Vineyards, New Berlin, IL
• Events: 5K Run, Biathlon – 5K run and a 15-mile bike, Team Biathlon (split the Biathlon)

🎟️ Packet Pickup

• Time: 6:30 am to 7:30 am on race morning
• Location: Check-in tent on the southside of the Winery near Irish Road

🚗 Parking and Facilities

• Parking: On the east side of the winery
• Restrooms: Inside the winery and outside porta-potties

⚠️ Safety Guidelines

• Road Rules: Run on the left side, bike on the right side
• Traffic Support: Ham Radio operators will patrol and assist

🏃 5K Race Information

• Start Time: 8 am for all participants
• Route: Flat, out and back on Irish Rd
• Chipped Timing: Line up according to intended pace, time starts when crossing the start line
• Post-Race: Snacks available after collecting finisher's medal: breakfast food for sale

🚴 Biathlon Transition Details

• Transition Start: After finishing the 5K lap and turning towards the bike corral
• Bike Corral: Walk your bike out and have your helmet on before leaving
• Loop Details: First loop is 7.5 miles: times include 5K, transition, and bike laps

⚙️ USAT Rules Compliance

• Rack Position: First come, first served for bike racks in the transition area
• Gear Placement: Keep gear close to your bike using a towel
• Helmet Requirement: All bikers must wear a helmet when leaving the corral
• Drafting Rules: No drafting: maintain distance and pass on the left only

🏆 Awards

• 5K Awards: About 9 am
• Biathlon Awards: About 10 am

🎉 5K Participation

• Single Event: Join in on the 5K section of the biathlon
• No USAT Membership: No longer required to participate, saving $15 on race day
