🏅 The John L. Coverly Sr. Memorial 5K

Moore For The Troops is back with the second annual 5K....with some fun changes!!

🎖️ Race Purpose

• Focus: Our focus for 2025 is Vietnam Veterans and bringing awareness to the impact of Agent Orange.
• In Memory: The 5K is being held in memory of John Coverly, who proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
• Awards: John was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal for his service.
• Legacy: He peacefully passed away at home on September 27, 2024, surrounded by his family.

💖 Fundraising Efforts

• Proceeds: 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Riddle Hospital Palliative Care Unit in John L. Coverly Sr.'s name.
• Local Impact: Riddle Hospital is a staple in our community providing exceptional care for our loved ones.
• Personal Experience: Mr. Coverly received excellent care while he was a patient there.
• Honored: We are honored to donate the proceeds in his name.

🏃‍♂️ 5K Details

• Course: This year we are taking the 5K off the track and onto school grounds.
• Route: The 5K will follow a trail around the school which includes some small hills, grassy areas, and pavement.
• Track Option: If you prefer to stay on the track for the 5K, that is also an option.
• Fun Run: The one mile fun run will remain on the track (4 laps around the track is equal to 1 mile).

🐶 Event Policies

• Restrictions: Dogs are NOT permitted on school grounds.
• Virtual Option: This year we are adding a VIRTUAL option for those unable to attend on April 5.
• Participation: You can still help us deliver our mission by running on your treadmill or favorite trail close to home!
• In-Person Gifts: In-person participants will receive a t-shirt and finisher's medal.

📅 Registration Details

• Sign-Up Deadline: The deadline to sign-up and receive a t-shirt is March 9, 2025.
• Registration Times: Registration opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 9:30 AM.
• Day of Event Fees: $50 for the 5K and $45 for the 1-Mile Fun Run.
• Virtual Participants: Post your pictures of your run/walk and tag us! We will randomly pick someone to receive an Amazon gift card!
