Join us at the birthplace of the sport for the XTERRA WETSUITS Mission Bay Triathlon! In 1974, the first Mission Bay Triathlon was a run-bike-swim-run event on Fiesta Island by the San Diego Track Club.

Distances: All take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025

• International Triathlon: 1000m swim - 38k bike - 9k run (13 yrs & older).
• Sprint Triathlon: 500m swim - 19k bike - 5k run (13 yrs & older).
• Sprint Duathlon: 1-mile run - 19k bike - 5k run (13 yrs & older).
• Sprint Aquabike: 500m swim - 19k bike (13 yrs & older).
• Sprint Aquathlon: 500m swim & 5K Run (13 yrs & older).
• Mini Sprint Triathlon: 200m swim - 4 mile bike - 1.5 mile run (11 yrs & older).
• Itsy Bitsy Triathlon: 100m swim - 2 mile bike - 0.75 mile run (7-10 yrs old).

🕒 Event Timeline & Schedule

Date: Friday, October 10th

Location: Road Runner Sports - 5553 Copley Drive, San Diego, CA 92111

Times Open: 3pm-6pm

Saturday, October 11th

• 10:00 AM: Registration opens / Expo opens at Bonita Cove.
• 11:00 AM: Course Talk 1.
• 1:00 PM: Course Talk 2.
• 2:00 PM: Kids Course Talk - Attention Parents: Coach Judi's Kids Course Talk is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
• 3:00 PM: Expo Closed.
• 5:00 PM: Pre-Race Dinner Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Triathlon.

Sunday, October 12th – Race Day

Please arrive early: Allow time to walk or ride from parking lots to transition area. See parking map on our website.

• 5:30 AM: Late check-in opens, Transition area opens.
• 6:35 AM: Transition area closed – be set up before this time.
• 6:40 AM: Race Starts.
• 7:00 AM: 5K Run Starts.
• 9:30 AM: Transition area open to remove bikes and equipment.
• 10:15 AM: Awards presentation (approximately).
• 11:00 AM: Transition area closes (all bikes should be removed).

🎟️ VIP Option

For a fee of $40 - your race numbers, swim cap, timing chip, and t-shirt will be ready for your pick-up on race morning. Pre-race check-in is not mandatory, you will check-in at the VIP table. Pick-up is from 5:45 am-6:45 am. VIP athletes have reserved bike racks with their names. Entries must be received by October 6th. NO EXCEPTIONS!

🏅 Race Divisions

• Triathlon & Duathlon Age Divisions: Ages 7-85+ based on specific age categories.
• Special Divisions: Elite, Challenged, Military, Clydesdale, and Athena.
• Relay Teams: 2 or 3 person teams for Sprint Triathlon.
• Aquabike & Aquathlon: Top 3 Male & Female in respective age categories.

The race course and timeline can be changed at the discretion of the race organization. All distances are approximate by GPS measurements. The race can be altered, postponed, or canceled with no refunds due to weather, natural disturbances, police activity, acts of terrorism, and threats of terrorism.

Refund Policy: Refunds will not be issued after a registration has taken place. If you would like to change your registration, you will be charged for the difference in price at the time of the change.
