Join us in-person or virtually at the One Mile Fox run on February 1, 2025! This race will be a fun, healthy, family-friendly, and walker-friendly way to kick off the New Year! This course is NOT your usual โflat and fastโ road mile โ instead we are offering you โguts and glory!โ In true celebration of the Maplecrest Park / Springfield Ave neighborhood of Maplewood, New Jersey, this course will treat you to beauty, thrilling downhills, and challenging uphills. Heats will be time-seeded for safety and excitement.
This race will be chip timed by Second Wind Race Timing, who will provide emailed results, an LED finish line clock, and a fun, inflatable finish line arch!
We believe healthy choices should be available to everyone! Therefore, 25% of the profits from this race will be donated to our charity partner, Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity (MEND), bringing fresh, healthy food to our food-insecure neighbors in Essex County.
*Please note you must register for the 2025 SFRC membership before registering for this race in order to qualify for the discount. SFRC memberships are pro-rated and cover the calendar year 1/1 to 12/31. All 2024 memberships will expire 12/31/2023. Bib pick-up will be on Friday, January 31 from 4:30-6:30pm in Maplewood. Location TBA. You may also pick up your bibs on race day from 9-9:50am.
Awards Ceremony at 11:20 AM
We will recognize the 1st place overall with a prize in the following categories: 1. Male, 2. Female, 3. Open.
In addition, we will recognize M/F/O top 3 in the following age groups: 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+. Winners will be determined by chip timing for in-person racers only. Youth participants will all receive medals.
February 1, 2025, with in-person heats starting at 10:00am. We will email you your heat and start time on January 30. Race day registration and bib pick-up opens at 9am. Virtual participants can run any time on February 1, 2025 on a one-mile course of their own choosing.
Race headquarters will be at Springfield Avenue Gazebo, 1662 Springfield Ave, Maplewood, NJ, 07040
The start and finish line will be on Tuscan Road between Springfield Ave and Maplecrest Park.
Race headquarters will include a first aid station, bag check, sponsors tables, team tables, and post-race water and bananas for the participants wearing bibs. Porta potties will be available nearby in Maplecrest Park by the playground.
When parking your car, please be a good neighbor! There is street parking on Springfield Avenue, along Maplecrest Park, and in nearby municipal lots.

You can affiliate with a team when you join โ if your team has 10 or more registered runners, we will give you a space at race headquarters for a table or a tent! You donโt need to be an official running team or club โ you are welcome to form a team of family, friends, co-workers, whatever โ just for this race! If you donโt see your team listed, please reach out to somafoxrunningclub@gmail.com and we will happily add you in!

The SOMA Fox Running Club (SFRC) was established in 2021 as a 501c3 non-profit organization in New Jersey, serving South Orange / Maplewood and the surrounding towns. We are a member organization of Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).
Our mission is to promote and extend the joys of running to our community through group workouts, camaraderie, runner-to-runner support, and hosting local races and events. We welcome all levels of runners from absolute beginners to the highly experienced or super speedy. We welcome runners ages 18 and up, all genders, and all backgrounds.
