The Drew Russell Memorial Run is going to have a "live" and virtual race for 2025.

📍 About This Event

• Event Type: This 5K Run/Walk is in memory of Captain Drew Russell, a WMU ROTC alumni.
• Background: He was Killed-In-Action in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan on October 8, 2011.
• Legacy: After earning his commission, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
• Scholarship: This event raises money for an endowed scholarship for Western Michigan University students.

• Virtual Race: Anywhere between April 05, 2025 to April 12, 2025.

🗓️ Event and Schedule

• Packet Pickup: Begins at 7:15 am: all participants will report to the check-in table to receive their t-shirt.
• Race Start: Begins at 8:30 am with the National Anthem and Boomer Start Gun.
• Awards Ceremony: After the conclusion of the race.

💵 Registration Fees

• Early Bird: $20.00 until Feb 23rd (11:59 pm)
• Regular Pricing: $25.00 from Feb 24th to April 4th (11:59 pm)
• T-Shirt Guarantee: Register before March 7th (11:59 pm) to be guaranteed a t-shirt.

👕 Tee Shirts

• Guarantee: To be guaranteed a T-Shirt, register before March 7th (11:59 pm).
• Pickup: In-person race participants T-shirts will be picked up on race day.
• Mailing: Virtual participants will have the T-shirt mailed to them.

🏆 Awards

• Medals: Winners in each category will receive a medal. Only in-person participants are eligible.
• Categories:
  • Top Runner Below 25 years old (Male and Female)
  • Top Runner between 26 and 40 years old (Male and Female)
  • Top Runner above 41 years old (Male and Female)

• Dog Participation: Yes! Dogs are welcome as long as they remain on a leash and you clean up after them!
• Strollers: Yes, you can push a stroller during this race.
