Strides for Adam 5K

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

Join us on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025 for the 6th annual Strides for Adam 5k run, walk and 1 mile reflection walk. We are also offering a virtual event for those that are unable to participate in-person.

💔 About Adam

Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for ages 10-24. More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED. On Dec 26, 2018 this unfortunate statistic affected Adam Holten, his family, extended family, friends and the community. We lost a very good person to suicide. Adam affected many people’s lives with his presence, his smile, his laughter, his handshakes and his ability to reach out and lift other people up.

Since his passing we have created a non profit organization: Strides for Adam. This is our 6th year hosting a 5K race to continue his legacy of service to others and keep his memory alive.

💵 Pricing

• Adults (18+): Early registration is $30 through March 9th, price goes up to $35 through March 22nd. $40 on Race Day (online registration only - no paper registrations).
• Youth (Under 18): Early registration is $25 through March 9th, price goes up to $30 through March 22nd. $35 on Race Day (online registration only - no paper registrations).
• Group Discount: Groups of 3 or more who register at the same time get $5 off of each registration.
• Race Swag: Finisher medals and t-shirts for participants. This year's medal is in the shape of a honeycomb, symbolizing community togetherness.

🏆 Awards

• Overall Awards: Male and Female 5k Run, including Overall Winner Trophy, 2nd and 3rd Place Trophies.
• Age Group Awards: 1st place winner of each age group earns a custom made medal, while 2nd and 3rd place receive a plaque.
• 5k Walk Awards: Male and female walkers for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall.
• Award Ceremony: Will be held at 10:00 am, following the race.

📅 Event Details

• Packet Pickup: Early packet pick up on Thursday 3/20, Friday 3/21, and Saturday 3/22 at Total Runner (15265 Dix Toledo Rd., Southgate, MI 48195) during normal business hours.
• Race Day Packet Pickup: Starting at 7:30 am at Riverview Community Center, 14300 Library Dr, Riverview, MI 48193.
• Virtual Strides For Adam: If unable to attend, sign up for the virtual race and we will mail out a shirt and medal. Run your virtual race any time from March 16th to 23rd. Cost is the same as the in-person event and includes shipping.
• Live Results: Results will be live during the event and posted on the Run Signup page.

🏅 Additional Information

The race is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.

Please note: The 1 mile walk event does not have awards. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards.
