🏃‍♂️ Welcome to the Upstate Running Club Youth Team

Welcome to the 2024 Fall Cross Country Season for the Upstate Running Club Youth Team. We will host an open practice/tryout for athletes ages 6-13 on Sunday August 4th at St. Joseph High School at 5pm. If your athlete is interested in our program please see the minimum physical requirements below along with our practice/training schedule. The season will include training sessions on Wednesday that are open to all along with team training on Sunday':s per our schedule below. Our focus will include increasing athletes endurance and fundamentals of running as we prepare for the 3k cross country distance that will culminate in the Hay Bale Hustle on November 16th and the Footlocker Championships in Charlotte on November 30th.

📅 2024 Fall Cross Country Schedule

• Dates: August 11th - November 30th
• Practices: Sunday are 75 minutes long

✅ Requirements

• Ages: 6-13
• Run: Under 1:45 for 400 meters
• Continuous Run: Must be able to run 1 mile continuously (under 9:00)
• Practice Start: Each practice will begin with a 1 mile run followed by a series of drills:
• Ladders
• Hurdles
• Bands
• Strides
• Core Exercises

• EVERY WEDNESDAY @ 6pm: Open Run at Holland Park (Athlete led)
• Sunday October 13: St. Joseph HS 5pm
• Sunday October 20: St. Joseph HS 5pm
• Sunday October 27: Cross Country Race @ Lakewood Nature Preserve - 220 Lakewood Drive Greenville, SC 29607 @ 5pm

• Sunday November 3: St. Joseph HS 4pm DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
• Sunday November 10: St. Joseph HS 4pm DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
• Sunday November 17: St. Joseph HS 4pm DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
• Sunday November 24th: Hay Bale Hustle @ Lakewood Nature Preserve - 220 Lakewood Drive Greenville, SC 29607 @ 2pm
