Practice Change (Location) – Time Trial Rescheduled

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Christ Church Episcopal School was unable to process our facility-use application in time for board approval. Despite submitting our request with updated insurance back in November, we learned from the athletic director this evening that we cannot host this coming Sunday. They are working to expedite our request for next week’s practice session. Although it’s frustrating, track season is underway—so if you’re an aspiring hurdler, consider this your chance for our first hurdle that we all have to clear to start the season.

Accordingly, our time trial has been postponed until the end of March, to be held during our regularly scheduled intersquad meet.

👦 Youth Program Information

Does your child have a passion for running and a talent for speed? The Upstate Running Club is excited to offer a unique opportunity for young athletes aged 6-13 to join our 2025 Spring Youth Running Program. Starting February 23rd and running through May 31st, this completely free program—funded by the Upstate Running Club nonprofit membership—provides expert coaching to help young runners thrive. Led by experienced Without Limits coaches Matthew and Victoria Hammersmith, our program will foster a love for running while building speed, endurance, and confidence in a supportive, team-oriented environment. With space for up to 75 athletes, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss!

Participants will enjoy weekly practices, intrasquad track meets at Christ Church Episcopal School, and fun open runs at Holland Park. These events are designed to build both individual skills and team camaraderie, preparing athletes for an exciting season that culminates in the AAU track series in June. Whether your child is an experienced runner or simply eager to develop their abilities, our program offers a fantastic blend of structured training, competition, and community. Join us this spring and give your young runner the chance to shine!

📆 2025 Spring Track Season Schedule

Dates: Feb. 23rd - May 31st
Sunday Practices: Christ Church Episcopal School Track @ 2 PM
Wednesday Open Run: Holland Park @ 6 PM (Starting AFTER Daylight Savings Time March 12th)

✅ Requirements

Ages: 6-13
Run: Under 1:45 for 400 meters
Endurance: Must be able to run 1 mile continuously (under 9:00)
Practice Routine: Each practice will begin with a 400 meter run under 1:45 followed by a series of drills including Ladders, Hurdles, Bands, Strides, and Core Exercises.
