Please to announce year 4 of the For the Love of the Bay 5/10K run and walk at Lake Merritt!!

📅 Event Details

Please all the information below before registering.

• Excitement: So excited to have this event again.
• Experience: The event the past few years have been fantastic!!!
• Atmosphere: Great finishing times, great weather, a colorful and inclusive Bay Area vibe.
• Anticipation: This year, we expect the event to be even better and more fun!!!

🌈 Inclusivity

We are encouraging people of all walks of life, tall and short, thin and wide, fast and slow to come out.

• Participants: Whether you are a strong runner, casual walker or family with a stroller.
• First Time: For some of you, this will be your first time at Lake Merritt.
• Environment: It's a beautiful lake and park and we intend to have it looking and feeling fun and friendly for all.
• Diversity: This event embodies the diversity and unique culture of the Bay Area!!

💰 Affordability

We have done our BEST to make the event especially affordable.

• Barrier Reduction: We want to help lower the barrier of entry for families.
• Registration Costs: The cost of entry for some of these races in the Bay Area are a joke.
• Community Focus: These community events shouldn’t break yours or your family’s pocketbook.
• Management: The money we collect for the run goes straight back into the management of the run.

📋 Registration Information

Our standard registration is closed as of October 18th. What is left is BIB only entry registrations. Registration includes:

• Bibs: Bibs with ChronoTrack racing chips to keep official times.
• Results: Results posted within 4 hours.
• Prizes: Top 3 overall prizes, as well as Group Prizes for men and women, top 3 in each age group for Both 5K and 10K.
• Raffle: Entry into the post race raffle.

🏅 Packet Pick-Up

Our main packet pickup will be Thursday October 24th at Sports Basement (Berkeley location) between 4:30pm and 7:30pm.

• Discount: Sports Basement will offer a shopping discount on store gear to whoever comes that day and picks the packet up!!
• Morning Pick-Up: We will also have morning off pick-up that starts right at 7:00am and will end at 7:45am SHARP.
• Late Arrivals: Please don’t challenge the system and come late.
• Updates: Stay tuned to the 510 Hikers group page for potential updates regarding packet pickup.

📍 Race Day Schedule

The starting location/line for the event is on the front lawn at the Lake Merritt Boathouse just past FairyLand on Bellevue Ave.

• 6:55AM: Morning race packet pickup starts.
• 7:40AM: Gather and rally to the start.
• 8:00AM: Start of the 10K run.
• 10:05AM: Raffle starts.

🅿️ Parking Information

Parking is $5 on Bellevue in the Fairyland parking area.

• Metered Parking: On the street, it’s metered parking starting at 8am.
• Public Transit: 19th BART would be the closest BART station to walk in from.
• Distance: It is .8 of a mile away from the starting line.
