We Love Homewood 5K

❤️ We Love Homewood 5K, 1 Mile, and Fun Run

Join us for the annual We Love Homewood 5K, supporting the fine arts in Homewood City Schools and benefiting the Homewood High School Band's upcoming trip to the Rose Bowl and the HWD Strong Wellness Program. From the starting line to the finish, this event promises fun, community spirit, and the chance to challenge yourself on a course through the beautiful Edgewood neighborhood.

🏁 Race Events:

We Love Homewood 5K

• Timing: Enjoy chip timing for accurate results.
• Course: The course winds through the friendly streets of Edgewood, with enthusiastic neighbors cheering you on.
• Awards: Awards include hand-painted ceramic medallions—unique and exclusive to this race!
• Start Time: 7:30 AM | One-Hour Cut-Off
• Awards:
  • Top Masters Male/Female
  • Top 3 Overall Male/Female
  • Age group awards (9 and under through 75-79, in five-year increments).

Scoop and Scurry TIMED 1 Mile Run

• New Feature: TIMED results for competitive runners 5-13 years of age.
• Course Leadership: Participants will follow a bike leader to the turnaround under the Dawson Memorial Baptist Church catwalk.
• Awards: Awards include recognition for the top Male/Female and age group winners (5-7, 8-10, 11-13).
• Start Time: Immediately after the 5K conclusion.

Fun Run

• Option: A relaxed, untimed option with a shorter route to enjoy with family and friends.
• Turnaround: Turnaround is at the intersection of Clermont and Manhattan.

HWD Snooze

Can’t make it on race day? Support the event as an HWD Snooze participant! Guaranteed t-shirts for those who register by April 15th.

Important Notes

• T-shirt Deadline: Guaranteed T-shirt Deadline: April 19th.
• Pets: We encourage no dogs on the course (service dogs allowed). Strollers are welcome.
• Weather Policy: Race will occur rain or shine. In the event of cancellation due to severe weather, no refunds will be issued.

• Locations: May 1st & 2nd: 11 AM–6 PM at Trak Shak Homewood.
• May 3rd: 6:30–7:20 AM at Central Park picnic area near Manhattan Street.

School Competition

We are encouraging HCS students to participate in the Scoop and Scurry School Competition, where K-5 students from Hall Kent, Shades Cahaba, and Edgewood compete for:

• Award: The ScooperIntendent's Award for the largest team percentage.
• Celebration: An Ice-cream Celebration for the grade level with the most participants at the winning school.

📅 Race Day Schedule:

• 6:30–7:20 AM: Race Day Registration (Picnic Pavilion, Manhattan Street).
• 7:20 AM: Walk to the starting line, followed by the National Anthem.
• 7:30 AM: Start of the We Love Homewood 5K.
• Post-5K: Awards presentation and the start of the Scoop and Scurry 1 Mile Run.
