💖 About the Event

New Salem Baptist Church (NSBC) and the Active Faith Ministry would like to welcome you to join our 3rd annual Spring Into Service 5k event! This year's 5K event will be in support of Carver Road Baptist Church (CRBC) and their Rebuilding for Recovery (R4R) Initiative! Both New Salem Baptist Church and Carver Road Baptist churches are located in Griffin and have many community service opportunities throughout the city of Griffin. New Salem's Active Faith Ministry is honored to bring the community together to share the Gospel of Jesus and to support a local sister church in their efforts to rebuild and renovate their facilities to further their community outreach and support of the Celebrate Recovery ministry in Griffin. The R4R initiative will be raising funds for rebuilding and renovating mission building space at Carver Road Baptist church to be utilized for multiple community outreach opportunities. Currently, Celebrate Recovery is utilizing this mission space for its program needs. Celebrate Recovery is a 12 step program helping individuals overcome their addictions and compulsive behaviors through a relationship with Jesus Christ. They have helped countless individuals and families find healing and restoration through Salvation.

The building that is being renovated for continued use of the Celebrate Recovery program and other outreach ministries of CRBC is in need of HVAC work, kitchen update, appliance update, sound and technology update, and overall basic renovation for a safe, comfortable, and functional environment. All proceeds above and beyond race expenses will be given directly to Carver Road Baptist Church for the R4R initiative. 🏅 Race Details

This event will be a 5K distance (3.1 miles). As we want every dollar possible to go directly to R4R initiative this race will not be chip timed. We will have a horn start and a timing crew recording all finishers' times and race results. We will have an age group award ceremony and winners will receive a medal. All registrants will receive a race T-shirt designed and printed by J-Max graphics (be sure to sign up by the shirt deadline to guarantee a shirt), race bib, course support, and post-race hot breakfast. Breakfast will be lovingly donated and prepared by New Salem Baptist Church!

Having a fun and safe race is a priority. We will have support from Griffin PD and New Salem Baptist / Carver Road Baptist church volunteers. The course will be well marked and volunteers will be along the route to cheer you on and make sure you know where all the turns are located. There will be one water station about halfway through the course. We will warm up all the walkers/runners with sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, prayer, opening remarks/instructions, and praise music starting at 7:30 AM. Race starts at 8:00 AM sharp. Runners, walkers, and strollers are welcome! Any minor child running/walking the race on their own and not in a stroller should register for the event and be accompanied and monitored by an adult. We respectfully request no pets.

🎖 Age Group Awards

Overall Winner and Overall Master Winner (age 40+), 9 and under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. Ghost runners will be able to submit by email their virtual race times and will be included in the final race results in their own category. Virtual results will not be eligible for race day awards.

There is a T-shirt deadline for this race. Anyone registering after April 10th at 11:59 PM will not be guaranteed a T-shirt. Online registration will continue until 7:45 AM on race day. Race Day registration will also accept cash or check. This is a rain or shine event. No refunds will be issued due to inclement weather. If the race is unable to be safely held due to weather or other unforeseen emergency the event will become virtual and registrants will email their 5K times to nsbcactivefaithministry@gmail.com by Monday April 28, 2025 at 11:59 PM to have their results included in the official race results. If the event goes fully virtual all submitted results will be considered for age group awards. This is an open road course. All participants are ultimately responsible for their own safety and well-being during the event. You will be required to sign a liability waiver during registration.
