Start and Finish at Turner & Front Streets, Beaufort NC
Friday, November 8th, 2024
Addiction to alcohol and drugs and homelessness are at epidemic portions. Two great Christ-centered non-profit partners have come together to sponsor this year’s Loaves and Fishes & Veteran Services of the Carolinas Run for Recovery 5K in Beaufort.
Loaves and Fishes of Beaufort is a Beaufort-based, Christ-centered, residential, substance abuse recovery program. They provide counseling, shelter and treatment to men at no cost to them. They have just opened a Transition Home where men who have graduated from the six month program can stay 12 to 18 months while they work and learn more life skills that help them move back into the community. www.loavesandfishesnc.org
Veterans Services of the Carolinas (VSC) supports our nation’s Veterans and their families by implementing essential assistance programs in communities across North Carolina. Through Housing, Employment, Outreach, Suicide Prevention, and Call Center Service Coordination, we collaborate with community partners and faith communities to engage with Veterans and meet their critical needs called Social Drivers of Health. For civilians, living unhoused, The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) granted VSC the PATH Program which provides intensive peer support services. Through their HOPE/PATH Outreach program, VSC helps unhoused individuals, attain the hope that recovery is possible and to get into addiction recovery programs such as Loaves and Fishes; help them find training and employment and community mental health services. www.abccm-vsc.org
