🌳 Who We Are

• Organization: Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter, Inc (OWLS) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) wildlife shelter.
• Mission: We rehabilitate and release thousands of animals annually and educate on human-wildlife coexistence.
• Permits: OWLS holds the required state and federal permits for legal wildlife care.
• Funding: We do not receive government funding and rely on donations and support from the community.

📚 Education

• Outreach: OWLS offers educational programs to classrooms and community events.
• Connection: Our aim is to connect people with nature and wildlife.

🐾 Rehabilitation

• Rescue: OWLS rescues small mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians in need of care.
• Welfare: The priority of OWLS is always animal welfare.

🦋 Release

• Natural Habitat: Every effort is made to return rescued animals to their natural environment post-rehabilitation.

💸 Registration Fees

• Cost: $35 includes an OWLS short sleeve tee shirt.
• Deadline: Register by March 10th to guarantee your race shirt.
• Pre Sign-in: T-shirt pick-up is on Friday the 28th, from 5:00 to 7:00 at OWLS, 100 Wildlife Way Newport.

• Style: The course features cross country style surfaces.
• Scenery: Participants will enjoy views of Beaufort Inlet, Bogue Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean.
• Footbridge Crossings: The trail includes footbridge crossings and varying terrain.
