🏃‍♀️ About the Run and AEF

The AEF 5K Run celebrates Arlington’s students, teachers, and staff who work tirelessly to create enriching and innovative educational experiences. All ages are welcome to participate. The proceeds from the run will be used to support innovative and creative new projects, as well as system-wide initiatives, that enhance the educational experience in Arlington’s Public Schools.

AEF depends entirely on individual donations and business sponsorships. The race plays a significant role in our community awareness and fundraising initiatives. The race course runs east along the Minuteman Bike Path before returning along Arlington’s historic Massachusetts Avenue. Arlington Education Foundation (AEF), is a 501(c)(3).

📝 Registration

• Open to all ages: Registration is open to all ages. Early bird pricing (until Tuesday, 4/8) is $35 per entrant. The race fee will increase to $45 per entrant after that date for all except for the ACE Boys+ In Motion and OMS running group members.
• Discount Available: Arlington Community Education (ACE) Boys (+) In Motion and OMS (elementary & middle school programs) participants are eligible for a discount. This information will be sent to students participating in the running groups.
• Personalized Bibs: Personalized bibs provided for all racers who register on/before Monday, 4/7.
• No Race Day Registration: There will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.

🎽 Race Swag

• T-Shirts: T-Shirts will be provided for all participants 14 years old and younger. Please specify the unisex t-shirt size when registering.
• Medals: Medals will be given to youth participants.
• Adult Registration: Adults should register before April 28, 2025 for a t-shirt.
• Impact Contribution: Opting out of a t-shirt means your contribution to AEF will make more of an impact!

🏁 The Course

The 5K run will start and end at Hill’s Hill Field, behind the Ed Burns Arena (422 Summer Street, Arlington, MA), with the course route shown below.

• Starting Point: After starting on the Hill’s Hill field, turn left (East) onto the Minuteman Bikeway.
• Water Street: Continue East to Water Street.
• Massachusetts Ave: Turn right on Water Street and then a quick right (West) onto Massachusetts Ave.
• Return Path: Bear right (West) from Massachusetts Ave. onto Lowell St and return to the Minuteman Bikeway.

📋 Bib Pickup

• May 15: Thursday at Marathon Sports - Arlington (673 Massachusetts Ave) from 2pm to 7pm. All race registrants and volunteers can get a 15% discount on anything (except electronics) purchased that day.
• May 16: Friday at Marathon Sports - Arlington (673 Massachusetts Ave) from 2pm to 7pm. All race registrants and volunteers can get a 15% discount on anything (except electronics) purchased that day.
• May 17: Saturday at the Reservoir Beach Parking Lot (257 Lowell Street) from 8am to 11am.
• No Race Day Pickup: There is NO Race Day Pickup.

🏆 Awards & Results

• Awards Timing: Awards will be given at 9:00 a.m.
• Chip Timing: Chip timing will be coordinated by Second Wind Timing. Results will be posted and emailed to all participants and are viewable at www.secondwindresults.com

🚗 Parking

Parking is very limited. Arlington residents should leave their cars at home and warm up as they run/walk to Hill’s Hill field. Please leave plenty of time to park on the neighboring streets. Do not block driveways or impede traffic.

⚠️ Safety

The race will run unless extreme weather prevents safe conditions. There will be no refunds.
