🏃‍♂️ About the Run and AEF

The AEF 5K Run celebrates Arlington’s students, teachers, and staff who work tirelessly to create enriching and innovative educational experiences. All ages are welcome to participate. The proceeds from the run will be used to support innovative and creative new projects, as well as system-wide initiatives, that enhance the educational experience in Arlington’s Public Schools.

• Community: AEF relies on donations and sponsorships.
• Course: The race runs along the Minuteman Bike Path.
• 501(c)(3): AEF is a registered nonprofit.

📝 Registration

Registration is open to all ages. Early bird pricing (until Wednesday, 4/24) is $35 per entrant. The race fee will increase to $45 per entrant after that date for all except for the ACE Boys+ In Motion and OMS running group members.

• Discount: ACE Boys+ In Motion and OMS participants are eligible for a discount.
• Registration: Register for ACE running club to receive a coupon code for the race.
• Details: Personalized bibs provided for all racers who register on/before Wednesday, 4/24.
• No Same-Day: There will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.

🤝 Volunteers

Got a free hour or two? We need volunteers to ensure that the AEF 5K is the safest and most fun race experience for all our participants. Please sign up to assist our Race Leadership Team on race day or with a pre-race task during the week before the race.

• Help: Volunteers are crucial for a successful event.
• Sign Up: Please sign up here if interested in volunteering.

🎽 Race Swag

• T-Shirts: Provided for all participants 14 years old and younger.
• Adults: Should register before May 1st to guarantee receiving a t-shirt.
• Opt-Out: Adults can opt out of getting a t-shirt to contribute more.
• Personalized Bibs: Provided for all who register before/on 4/24.

🏁 The Course

The 5K run will start and end at Hill’s Hill Field, behind the Ed Burns Arena (422 Summer Street, Arlington, MA), with the course route shown below.

• Start: Turn left (East) onto the Minuteman Bikeway.
• East to Water: Continue East to Water Street.
• Right Turn: Turn right on Water Street and then a quick right (West) onto Massachusetts Ave.
• Return: Continue East on the Minuteman Bike Path back to Hill’s Hill Field to the race finish.

📦 Bib Pickup

Bibs may be picked up at the Ed Burns Arena — 422 Summer St, Arlington, MA
Advanced pickup only!

• Dates: Thursday, 5/16, 5-7:30 p.m.
• Friday: 5/17, 5-7:30 p.m.
• Saturday: 5/18, 8-10:30 a.m.
• No Day Pickup: NO Race Day Pickup.

🏆 Awards & Results

• Awards: Will be given at 9:00 a.m.
• Chip Timing: Coordinated by Second Wind Timing.
• Results: Posted and emailed to all participants.
• View: Results viewable at www.secondwindresults.com

🅿️ Parking

There is parking at the Ed Burns Arena. However, it is limited. We suggest that Arlington residents leave their cars at home and warm up as they run/walk to Hill’s Hill field. Please leave plenty of time to park on the neighboring streets and then get to the field once the parking lot fills.

⚠️ Safety

The race will follow all CDC guidelines in effect at the time of the event. We will communicate safety protocols to participants during the week before the race. The race will run unless extreme weather prevents safe conditions. There will be no refunds.
