Mission: To recognize, honor and serve Connecticut military and public safety veterans and/or their spouses who have served our country faithfully and sacrificially.
Home Repairs: Provide one day, no-cost home repairs through partnerships with individuals, civic organizations and corporations.
Growth: Committed to advancing the mission to the ever-increasing numbers of veterans both in Connecticut and nationwide.
🏠 Impact of the Organization
No-Cost Repairs: Over 200 Connecticut military and public safety veterans and/or their surviving spouses have received no-cost home repairs since 2012.
Project Locations: Projects completed in 69 cities and towns throughout Connecticut.
Milestones: Completed 244th home in August 2024, aiming for 250 projects by the end of the year.
Community Contribution: The organization continues to expand its outreach and support for veterans.
🕊️ Honoring Abner Oakes III
Dedicatory Event: This event is dedicated to honor Abner Oakes III, a Navy Veteran and the founder of the Hamden Veterans Commission.
Induction: Abner was inducted into the Veterans Hall of Fame in 2010.
Passing: Abner passed away on May 29, 2021.
Legacy: His efforts continue to inspire the community and support for veterans in Connecticut.
