- Legacy: Dedicated to honor Abner Oakes III, a Navy Veteran and the founder of the Hamden Veterans Commission.
- Induction: Inducted into the Veterans Hall of Fame in 2010.
- Passing: Abner passed away on May 29, 2021.
- Commitment: Continuing his legacy through this event and supporting veterans.
