📜 Significance of Juneteenth

• Historic Celebration: Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, first celebrated in Texas when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Galveston on June 19, 1865.
• Health Awareness: We recognize the need to foster health and wellness in our communities today.
• Chronic Disease Rates: According to the CDC, African Americans face higher rates of chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease compared to other groups.
• Activity Levels: Fewer than 25% of Black adults meet recommended activity levels due to systemic barriers such as access and awareness.
