15th Anniversary Miles Cupcake 5k and Fun Run

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

The "Miles Cupcake 5k and Fun Run" is named after Shane Miles, former GO FAR Coach and ultra runner with a true love for people and running! Shane helped coach when the program had just begun on the Outer Banks and continued to volunteer over the years. His passion for running was contagious and inspiring, his dedication and determination were unwavering. We sadly lost Shane to cancer in 2020 and today we celebrate him through this awesome event he originally created and the scholarship fund for graduating seniors throughout Dare County. OBX GO FAR is proud to name its Miles College Education Fund in honor of Shane Miles. The proceeds from this event will go to OBX GO FAR, a non-profit children’s running program designed to build healthier, happier children and families. Your registration will help fund the Miles College Education Fund, provide scholarships for children who cannot meet registration fees in the GO FAR Children's program, as well as help us cover the essential costs of our program.

This year's big event marks the 15th anniversary of OBX GO FAR! You can create a TEAM with your friends, family or co-workers and WIN the first-ever "Biggest Batch" Cupcake Trophy! This milestone event is all about celebrating community, fitness, and sweet treats that make life a little more fun. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just in it for the cupcakes, this event has something for everyone!

📅 Race Day Details

Join local Dare County GO FAR youth in our Miles Cupcake 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run presented by OBX Go Far on Saturday, May 3rd beginning at 8 AM! We have a festive start and finish in downtown Manteo at The Pioneer Theater with one-of-a-kind custom finisher's medals and, of course, cupcakes! Packet Pick-up will take place the morning of the race beginning at 7:10-7:50 AM outside in front of Pioneer Theater.

8:00 AM 5k Start and 8:05 AM Fun Run start.

Runners must register by April 16th to guarantee a cupcake tee shirt!

Parking will be at the public parking lot located at 205 Budleigh Street in downtown Manteo, NC 27954. Race Course/Maps are on our Facebook page @ OBX GOFAR for the 5k and 1 mile start! Course will be an out and back.

Course 5k Race: Start under arch at Budleigh St - left on Queen Elizabeth Ave - corner to Croatan Ave - left on John Borden St - right on Wingina Ave - right on Scuppernong Rd - turn around to the left on Mother Vineyard - Out and back course back to theater.

Course Fun Run Race: Start Under arch at Budleigh St - left on Queen Elizabeth Ave - corner to Croatan Ave - left on John Borden St - left on Wingina Ave - left on Devon St - right on Croatan Ave - corner to Queen Elizabeth and right on Budleigh out and back course to the theater.
