Dare to Scare 5k & Sweet Treat Fun Run

🎃 Race Date

• Date: The race will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Rain or shine event.

🕗 Time Schedule

• 5k Start: 8:00 a.m. at Coastal Studies Institute (CSI)
• Fun Run Start: 9:00 a.m. at Virginia S. Tillett Community Center (VTCC)
• Check-in: Will be announced closer to the race.
• Packet Pickup: Post race at the VTCC.

📍 Location

• 5k Route: Begins at Coastal Studies Institute, 850 NC-345, Wanchese, NC 27981
• Finish Line: Virginia S. Tillett Community Center, 950 Marshall C. Collins Drive, Manteo, NC 27954
• Fun Run Route: Begins and finishes at the Virginia S. Tillett Community Center.

🚍 Transportation

• Pre-Race Shuttle: Provided for runners parking at the finish line.
• Details: Rides to CSI will be announced closer to the race.
• No Return Trips: From VTCC to CSI.

💰 Entry Fee

• Early Registration: $40.00 if received by September 16, 2024.
• Late Registration: $45.00 from September 17 – October 26, 2024.
• Race Day: $50.00 for registration during packet pickup.
• Shirt Information: Limited availability: pre-registration guarantees a shirt.

🏅 Awards & Medals

• 5k Awards: Top three male and female finishers.
• Costume Contest: Prizes for top costume winners.
• All Participants: Medals provided.
• Fun Run Participants: Guaranteed race medal and spooky swag.

🧍 Virtual Participants

• Completion Window: Run/walk any time until race day.
• Submit Times: Via runsignup.com on an 'honor' basis.
• Dare County Employees: Must submit proof for Wellness Points.
• Medals: Sent within 2 weeks for virtual participants.

👥 Non-Race Participants

• Pre-Race Festivities: Held at CSI for all runners and spectators.
• Fun Run Activities: Prior festivities at VTCC.

🚗 Parking & Traffic

• Recommendation: Park at the finish and shuttle to the start.
• Drop-Off: Allowing participant drop-off at the start.
• Strict Protocol: No entering/exiting CSI during race.
• Volunteer Patrolled: Area for participant safety.

📦 Packet Pickup

• Friday Details: October 25, 2024, at VTCC from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
• Registration After September 16: First come, first served.
• Proxy Pickup: Email for permission if needed.

📅 Registration Information

• Online Registration: Ends at 11:59 p.m. on October 24, 2024.
• On-Site Registration: Available for $50.00 on race day.
• 5k Registration: Ends at 7:45 a.m.
• Fun Run Registration: 8:15-8:45 a.m. on race day.
