📜 History

• Foundation: Created by the Road Runners Club of America to protest limited competitive races for women.
• 1980 Olympics: It was believed women could not compete at distances over 1500 meters until then.
• First Festivals: The first Women’s Distance Festivals were run in July 1980.
• Growth: The Rockland Road Runners adopted the festival in 1988, making it the largest in the tristate area.
