Kenya Connect 5K: Running/Walking for Education

🏃‍♂️Race Overview

Join us for the 2025 KC5K: Running/Walking for Education! Once again the race will be LIVE and Virtual!

📍Race Location

• Starting Point: St. John's Episcopal Church
• Neighborhood: Beautiful Dunloggin Neighborhood
• Participation: Run or walk, strollers welcome!
• Awards: Top three runners/walkers will win a hand-carved medallion from Wamunyu, Kenya

🏅Prizes and Awards

• Overall Winners: Top male/female overall will win a hand-carved medallion and runner gift cards ($100 for first place and $50 for 2nd and 3rd place).
• Virtual Runners: Participate anytime between 9:00 am on Saturday, March 29 and 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 30.
• Categories: Awards for top three places overall and the top winner male/female in various age divisions.
• Pets: Pets are welcome at the LIVE race: must be on a leash and kept away from other runners/walkers.

🤝Team and Fundraising

• Largest Team: Prizes for the largest team: could be family, college, HS, or workplace.
• Top Fundraiser: Prizes for the top overall fundraiser, team or individual.
• Team Benefit: Any team raising $3,000 gets to choose the spine of a book to be painted on a step of our Library Learning Center.
• Trees in Honor: Each member of the largest team will have a tree planted in Kenya in their honor.

👕Race Registration

• Premium Options: Choose between a Kenya Connect short-sleeved tech shirt or a bucket hat.
• Registration Deadline: Must register by March 1 to be guaranteed a premium.
• Cost: $40 until February 28: $45 after March 1. Participants 18 and under race cost is $25.
• Pets: Pets are $10, which includes a bandana.

🏋️‍♂️Pump Challenge

This year features a Pump Challenge! CrossFit PCR in Ellicott City is providing an additional challenge for racers:

• Challenge Details: Runners will bench press a percent of their body weight prior to the race.
• Time Deduction: Each repetition will deduct 10 seconds off the runner’s 5K time.
• Separate Placement: Placement and prizes for the Pump Challenge and Run will be separate from individual race scores.
• Age Categories: Male/Female 16-49, Female/Male 50+

📅Packet Pick-Up

Packet pick-up is on Friday, March 28 from 4:00-7:00 PM at sponsor Feet First Columbia or on race day, March 29 from 8:00-8:45 AM at St. John's. The race is rain or shine and we do have the St. John's auditorium for pre-race and post-race activities. Thanks for signing up!
