🏃♂️ The 9th Annual Savage Family Turkey Trot 5k
Question: What's more fun than a holiday race? Answer: Joining in on The Savage Family Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving morning starting at Bug Light in South Portland!! This is the 9th annual run of the Turkey Trot to honor Nathan Savage. Nathan was an avid runner, biker, triathlete, and family man. He lost his life to a fatal heart attack on July 2, 2016, just three weeks before he was set to compete in his first full Ironman event, and just months prior to his 40th birthday.

THIS YEAR 100% OF PROFITS WILL BE GOING TO THE SOUTH PORTLAND COMMUNITY CENTER/NATHAN SAVAGE MEMORIAL FUND FOR KIDS.
🎉 Our Impact
- Funds Raised: Over the last EIGHT years, the Turkey Trot has raised OVER $65,000 for the town of South Portland.
- Memorial Fund: Nearly 100% given to the Nathan Savage Memorial Fund, a scholarship account created by the Savage Family with the South Portland Community Center.
- Helping Kids: Provides financial assistance to any child wanting to participate in youth development programs.
- Nathan’s Dream: One of Nathan's dreams was to help kids get off the couch and get out there and be active and healthy.
🏊♂️ Special Events
In 2019, the amazing crew at the SPCC organized The Tri Like A Savage, a youth triathlon held in honor of Nathan. It has been an amazing event and funds from the scholarship account helped to make the race accessible to all South Portland kids. Please join us in the Spring of 2025 for that fun event!
