🏃♂️ Zack's Place Thanksgiving Turkey Trot
Join us for the in-person and Global Turkey Trot on November 28, 2024, at Woodstock Elementary School, Woodstock, VT.
📅 Important Details
- Packet Pickup: Please note that you can pick up race packets on the 27th of November between 3-5:00 PM at Woodstock Elementary School, 15 South St. Woodstock, VT 05091.
- Race Day Registration: Registration on race day is at the Woodstock Elementary School. We will have live music "JOHN SNYDER'S BAND!" Be sure to register between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM so the race can begin on time!
- Date & Time: The race begins at 10:00 AM.
- Support: Thank you for registering for this really fun family event to support Zack's Place.
🏅 Race History
- Established: The Zack's Place Turkey Trot, a 5K run and walk held on Thanksgiving Day, was first established in 2007.
- Participation Growth: In 2007, almost 200 people participated. In 2023, over 1,700 people participated and raised $119,000.
- Operational Support: All of the proceeds of the race are dedicated to our operational costs.
- Entertainment: In years past, participants were entertained by a band on a flatbed truck, while refreshments were offered.
🗺️ Race Route
- Starting Point: The race begins in front of the Woodstock Elementary School.
- Course: The run meanders through the historic Village of Woodstock, towards Billings Farm, around Mountain Avenue, and back around The Town Green.
- Award Ceremony: An award ceremony follows the race where medals are presented.
- Participants: Families, college students, and participants from around the world are welcome.
🚫 Important Notes
- No Pets: Due to canine issues last year, we are unable to host dogs or pets at this event. Please do not bring your pets to the Turkey Trot.
- Parking Concerns: Parking was somewhat difficult last year: we will provide parking suggestions below.
- Thanksgiving Tradition: This is a day of thanks where individuals help support our enrichment center and give thanks for their own gifts.
- Global Participation: We have "satellite participants" who run wherever they are, from Hawaii to Italy and New York City.
