🏃‍♂️ Race Postponement

The Lewis Run, scheduled for January 11, has been postponed to February 1 due to concerns about the weather and road conditions on the original date.

📅 Registration Details

• Registration Status: Runners who registered prior to this announcement do not need to reregister or notify us of their intention to participate on the new date.
• Open Registration: Registration will remain open until February 1.
• Volunteer Confirmation: We do request that volunteers reconfirm their availability as soon as possible. Please send an email to lewisrun@steeplechasers.org.
• Location: Palmieri Activities Center, 16376 John Walsh Way, Emmitsburg (On the Mount St. Mary’s Campus)

⛰️ Race Format

This is a prediction race, so participants may not wear watches. Leave 'em in your car, your gym bag, or at home. The winner is the runner who runs closest to their predicted time. Note: FSRC Grand Prix results will be based on actual finish time.

• Membership: FSRC members. If you’re not a current member, it’s only $25 to join the club.

📝 Registration Process

Please register online before showing up on race morning, or plan on registering from your phone at the race venue. We will not be doing in-person registration.

📦 Bib Pickup

Bib pickup will be held on race morning starting at 8:00 am inside the PAC building.

🏞️ Course Information

The Lewis Run is the early season race that we love to hate. Prizes go to the closest predicted time and front runners receive our admiration and a hearty slap on the back. The course is mostly paved but REALLY HILLY! There is about a one-mile section of unpaved road.

⌛ Time Limit

In order to do awards in a timely fashion and get the volunteers out of the cold, there is a 2:30 time limit for this event. That equates to a fairly generous 15 min/mile but it's not an event for walkers.

🍽️ Breakfast Sharing

Bring a food item to share while we wait for the exciting results.

📍 Directions

From Rt. 15 North, turn left on Annandale Rd on the Mount St. Mary’s University campus. Follow parking attendants’ directions. That’s it!

☁️ Weather Considerations

It’s a winter race: therefore, the weather could be an issue. Any announcements about possible cancellations due to weather will be made on the Frederick Steeplechasers Facebook Group. Registered runners will be notified by email.

🅿️ Parking Information

Once you reach the campus, attendants will provide directions to where you should park.

🤝 Volunteer Opportunities

This was never intended to be a big event. It’s an especially challenging 10-mile route with minimal support.
