Event Overview
We'll be back at the Palmieri Activities Center (PAC) on the Mount St. Mary’s campus again this year!
Race Format
- Prediction Race: This is a prediction race, so participants may not wear watches. Leave 'em in your car, your gym bag, or at home.
- Winner Criteria: The winner is the runner who runs closest to their predicted time.
- Results Basis: Note: FSRC Grand Prix results will be based on actual finish time.

Where: Palmieri Activities Center, 16376 John Walsh Way, Emmitsburg (On the Mount St. Mary’s Campus)
Motivation
Why: Because you love the challenge of running wicked hills in freezing weather.
Eligibility
Who: FSRC members. If you’re not a current member, it’s only $25 to join the club. It's still a great deal for a 10-mile race, even if you don’t take advantage of the many other benefits of club membership.

How much: Free for Steeplechaser members
Registration
Registration: Please register online before showing up on race morning, or plan on registering from your phone at the race venue. We will not be doing in-person registration.
Event Details
- Bib Pickup: Bib pickup will be held on race morning starting at 8:00am inside the PAC building.
- Course: The Lewis Run is the early-season race that we love to hate. Prizes go to the closest predicted time and front runners receive our admiration and a hearty slap on the back. The course is mostly paved but REALLY HILLY! There is about a one-mile section of unpaved road.
- Time Limit: There is a 2:30 time limit for this event, equating to a fairly generous 15 min/mile, but it’s not an event for walkers.
- Breakfast: Bring a food item to share while we wait for the exciting results.
Directions
Directions: From Rt. 15 North, turn left on Annandale Rd on the Mount St. Mary’s University campus. Park anywhere in the lot in front of the PAC building. That’s it!
Weather
Weather: It’s a winter race therefore the weather could be an issue. Any announcements about possible cancellations due to weather will be made on the Frederick Steeplechasers Facebook Group. Registered runners will be notified by email.
Volunteering
Volunteer: This was never intended to be a big event. It’s an especially challenging 10-mile route with minimal support. However, volunteers are still needed to help with parking, course marshaling, timing, etc. If you want to avoid the painful hills but still want to participate, VOLUNTEER!
