Dark Horse Trail Series (26.2 - 13.1 - 10k)

Event Overview

Join us for the Dark Horse Trail Series at the Tryon Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, NC on August 14, 2027. This exciting race offers three distances: 10K, Half Marathon (13.1 miles), and Marathon (26.2 miles). Register now!

Course Description

• Loop Course: The race consists of a 6.5-mile loop through a combination of dirt paths, single-track trails, and meadows.
• Elevation Gain: Each loop has an elevation gain of 600 feet, challenging runners regardless of distance.
• Shared Terrain: All distances share the same terrain, allowing for a unified running experience.
• Start/Finish Area: Every lap includes passing through the start/finish area, complete with aid stations and cheering crowds.

Parking Information

Parking is available for $5.00, payable as part of registration. Follow the posted signs to the General Store area, close to the start/finish line.

Aid Stations

• Location: One aid station is located at the start/finish line for all participants.
• Snacks Available: Pickles, Cookies, Chips, Fig Newtons, and Pretzels.
• Hydration Options: Water, Coke, and Ginger Ale will be available.
• Cup-less Event: Please bring your own hydration vessel.

• Park Entry: Included with registration: enjoy access without a gate fee.
• Custom Race Bib: A unique bib to commemorate your journey.
• Chip Timing: Receive live results and split times during the race.
• Finisher Medal: Every participant receives a medal after completing their race.

Race Awards

• Overall Awards: Trophies for the top 3 overall male and female finishers.
• Age Group Awards: Medals for the top 3 finishers in each of the 15 age categories.
• Series Recognition: This race contributes towards performance recognition in the Upstate Trail and Ultra Series.

Good to Know

• Dogs: Yes, dogs are allowed but must be on a leash.
• Headphones: Allowed, but please remain alert to course direction.
• Packet Pickup: Cannot be picked up by someone else.
• Restrooms: Available at the start/finish line and on course.
