RACE OVERVIEW

On Saturday, March 28th the Suffolk County Council of Boy Scouts of America and the Andrew McMorris Foundation will host the 5th Annual Andrew’s Top Gun Run to raise the funds for Scholarships and Scouterships.

In September of 2018, Boy Scout Troop 161 was hiking the Greenbelt Trail when a drunk driver tragically hit them. Several scouts were severely injured: as a result of his injuries, 12 year old Andrew McMorris passed away. The lives of his family, friends, community and fellow scouters were forever changed by his loss. Andrew McMorris was an incredible, kind, and passionate individual with insurmountable potential for his future. In the wake of this immeasurable tragedy, we choose to step forward and celebrate Andrew life, his 20th birthday, love of aviation and scouting!

RUNNER EXPERIENCE

• Opportunity: As a participant YOU will have the unique opportunity to run or walk the runway in Andrew’s honor.
• Course: This is going to be a fast and flat run.
• Personal Best: An opportunity for a personal best time given the course and the cool weather.
• Support: We truly hope that you will consider supporting Andrew’s Top Gun Run 5K.

Directions from Points West

Take Long Island Expressway to William Floyd Parkway Exit 68. Head north on William Floyd Parkway. Exit for Route 25 East (Middle Country Road), Calverton Executive Park on Right Hand side. Make Right at traffic light to enter Calverton Enterprise Park. Make left onto runway and follow signs to parking.

Directions from Points East

Take Long Island Expressway to Exit for Route 25 East (Middle Country Road), Calverton Executive Park on Left hand side. Make light at traffic light to enter Calverton Enterprise Park. Make left onto runway and follow signs to parking.

OR

Take Long Island Expressway to William Floyd Parkway Exit 68. Head north on William Floyd Parkway. Exit for Route 25 East (Middle Country Road), Calverton Executive Park on Right Hand side. Make Right at traffic light to enter Calverton Enterprise Park. Make left onto runway and follow signs to parking.

EVENT DETAILS

• Pre-Registration: Pick-up Friday Night 3/27 from 4pm-7pm ON THE RUNWAY!
• Registration Opens: on site at 7:30am!
• Straight Time: 5K Starts at 9:00am.
• Fun Run Starts: at 8:30am.

5K AWARDS:

• Top Finishers: Top three male and female finishers overall.
• Age Groups: Top three (3) males and females in the following age groups: 1-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+

AMENITIES

• Timing: Chip Timed Event.
• T-Shirts: Guaranteed for participants who register by March 18th!
• Fun Run: Open to children 12 and under: a special prize for our Fun Run Participants.
• Results: Available online after race.

ENTRY FEES

• 5K: $30 w/ event shirt guaranteed if registered by March 18th, $35 Day-of.
• Fun Run: $15 w/ event shirt guaranteed if registered by March 18th, $20 Day-of.
• VIRTUAL 5K: $30 w/ event shirt guaranteed if registered by March 18th. Virtual runners not eligible for awards.

VIRTUAL RACE INFORMATION

WHEN / WHERE? You may run your race anywhere you choose at your own convenience and post your results anytime by March 30th. Complete your run, and upload your results and photos on the race website. (You can also go to your RunSignUp profile, go to your Upcoming races, and click on Submit Virtual Results. Don't forget to print out your finisher's certificate after you submit your time by going back to the results!)

HOW TO DOWNLOAD YOUR RACE BIB

After registering for the race, click the circle icon in the top right corner of RunSignUp.com, click "profile", scroll down to "Upcoming Races", Select View the Pre-Race bib. Print it out and wear as you run your race! Take a photo and share on social media!
