- Purpose: The event is set up as a memorial for Kali Rank, who passed away from a car accident on October 2, 2021.
- Athletic Background: Kali was a dedicated soccer player and played club soccer for Coast FA 04 girls team and for Aynor High School.
- Legacy: Kali was a great teammate and friend, and this race is to honor her legacy both on and off the field.
- Scholarship Fund: Proceeds of the race will ensure Kali’s legacy lives on and will provide a scholarship in her honor to a Coast FA soccer player to attend a four-year university.
