The Splash and Dash race is a multi-sport event that combines swimming and running segments. Participants complete a swim course followed immediately by a run, with the distances varying depending on the specific race category.
The race is open to athletes of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to seasoned triathletes. Racers will be put into swim heats based upon their estimated finish times.
There will be heats starting at 7:30 am with 11 swimmers in lanes. There will be a rolling schedule, when one heat is completely done with the swim there will be time to do a warmup and we will start the next heat.
Participants should have appropriate swimwear, goggles, and running attire. Swim: We recommend and expect most participants to wear a Tri Suit. They are designed for athletes to be able to swim in, bike in, and then run in without needing to get changed. The bathrooms/changing rooms at the wave pool will be open and available for use so you can definitely change prior to the run, but please note that time spent in transition goes towards your overall time. Run: Running shoes are essential for the run segment. We recommend wearing a part of trail running shoes as you will be running on the wood trails in Settlers Cabin Park and they can get slippery/muddy.
Yes, participants must adhere to the following: Transition Area (Green Carpet Area): Competitors must keep their equipment within designated spaces in the transition area. Conduct: Sportsmanship is mandatory, and unsportsmanlike behavior can result in disqualification.
Electronic timing chips will be used to track participants' progress. Each athlete receives a chip to be worn on the ankle, which records split times for both swim & transition and then run segments.
Safety is paramount, with lifeguards stationed along the swim course and medical personnel available throughout the event. Additionally, water stations are provided along the run course to ensure participants remain hydrated.
The race organizers closely monitor weather conditions. In case of severe weather, such as thunderstorms or extreme temperatures, the race may be postponed or canceled. Participants will be notified of any changes via email and the official race website.
Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend. Designated viewing areas are provided along both the swim and run courses, allowing family and friends to support participants throughout the race.
