Event Type: The Splash and Dash race is a multi-sport event that combines swimming and running segments.
Course Structure: Participants complete a swim course followed immediately by a run, with the distances varying depending on the specific race category.
👟 Who can participate in the Splash and Dash race?
Eligibility: The race is open to athletes of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to seasoned triathletes.
Heat Arrangement: Racers will be put into swim heats based upon their estimated finish times.
📏 What are the distances for the swim and run segments?
Swim Length: 500 Meter Swim (10 Lengths in 50 Meter Pool)
Run Distance: 5K Trail Run (woods), well-marked course in Settlers Cabin Park.
⏰ How many swimmers will swim at one time?
Heat Start Time: There will be heats starting at 7:30 am with 11 swimmers in lanes.
Schedule: There will be a rolling schedule, when one heat is completely done with the swim there will be time to do a warmup and we will start the next heat.
🏅 What are the different events?
Individual: The Athlete will complete both the swim and the run.
Relay Team: One athlete will complete the swim and the other will complete the run.
5K Trail Run: The Athlete will complete the trail run.
🛠️ What equipment is required?
Swim Gear: Participants should have appropriate swimwear, goggles, and running attire.
Recommended Attire: We recommend and expect most participants to wear a Tri Suit, designed for athletes to swim, bike, and run in without needing to get changed.
Run Shoes: Running shoes are essential for the run segment. We recommend wearing trail running shoes as you will be running on the wood trails in Settlers Cabin Park.
📜 Are there any special rules or regulations?
Transition Policy: Competitors must keep their equipment within designated spaces in the transition area.
Conduct Standard: Sportsmanship is mandatory, and unsportsmanlike behavior can result in disqualification.
⏱️ How is timing managed?
Timing Method: Electronic timing chips will be used to track participants' progress.
Chip Details: Each athlete receives a chip to be worn on the ankle, which records split times for both swim & transition and then run segments.
🚑 What are the safety measures in place?
Lifeguards: Safety is paramount, with lifeguards stationed along the swim course.
Medical Support: Medical personnel available throughout the event.
Hydration Stations: Water stations are provided along the run course to ensure participants remain hydrated.
🌧️ What happens in case of bad weather?
Weather Monitoring: The race organizers closely monitor weather conditions.
Notification Process: In case of severe weather, such as thunderstorms or extreme temperatures, the race may be postponed or canceled. Participants will be notified of any changes via email and the official race website.
👥 Can spectators attend the event?
Attendance: Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Viewing Areas: Designated viewing areas are provided along both the swim and run courses, allowing family and friends to support participants throughout the race.

Mission: Steel City Aquatics is a community-focused aquatics organization dedicated to promoting water safety, fitness, and recreational activities.
Location: Currently based in the South Fayette, Montour, and Moon Township communities with membership that hails from across the western Pittsburgh region.
