Dogwood-Azalea Festival 5k

🏃‍♂️ Race Details:

Come join us for one of the oldest races in Southeast Missouri. The Dogwood - Azalea Run was first ran in 1979 and the tradition continues today! The race takes place during Charleston’s Annual Dogwood Azalea Festival. It starts and finishes at Rolwing Park while the Festival is taking place. This is a flat, fast, and beautiful course that is perfect for the 1st time runner and is equally as great for the seasoned runner. There will be spectators along the entire route cheering for you all the way to the finish line!

🎽 Available Races:

• Toddler Run: $5.00. This run is one block. (Race day registration only)
• Youth Run: $5.00. This run is approximately 1/3 mile. (Race Day Registration only)
• 5k Run: $25.00 thru March 23th. $30 After March 23th. Pre-register online or register in person on race day.

📍 Registration Location, Start & Finish Line:

Packet pick-up and Race Day Registration will be at the Scout Cabin at Rolwing Park on the corner of E. Cypress St and Stark St. Both the Start and Finish Line are near the Scout Cabin.

📝 Pre-registration:

Online and mail-in Pre-registration is $25 thru March 23th. Price increases to $30 after March 23th. High quality t-shirts guaranteed if registered by March 23. Online registration is open through April 11th.

🏁 Race Day Registration:

• Time: Race Day registration opens at roughly 11:30 am at the Scout Cabin.
• Price: Toddler and Youth Races - $5.00. They are both Race Day registration only. All finishers will receive an award.
• 5k Race: $30. Race shirts will be available on a first come first serve basis.
• Payment: We will be accepting cash and check only. NO Debit or Credit Cards please.

⏰ Race Day Timetable:

• 11:30 am: Packet Pickup at Scout Cabin Begins
• 11:45 am: Race day registration for 5k and Toddler/Youth runs open
• 1:30 pm: Race day registration for all races close
• 1:50 pm: Toddler & Youth Races start
• 2:00 pm: 5k Start
• 3:00 pm: Awards Ceremony

🏆 Awards:

Awards will be presented at the Scout Cabin at the conclusion of the race.

• Trophies: to overall male and female finishers.
• Awards: to top 3 in each age group.
• Age Groups: 0-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

Special Awards: Jackson L. Burke to first male finisher with 63834 address: Corse Cup to first female with 63834 address: Bill Bullard Trophy to the youngest 5k finisher.

Female 16:47 - Vivian Sinou (1988)

$500 Cash Prize to an individual who breaks their gender's course record.

🏞️ Race Course:

The 5k Race takes place on USATF Certified Course MO20001DG. This is an extremely well marked course! There will be police officers stationed at many of the intersections. There will also be coned off lanes for runners along many streets.

You will start on E Cypress St near the Scout Cabin. Run west to Main St. Head North on Main St and then back East on Byrd Avenue. Follow Byrd Avenue until it turns South into S Virginia. Follow S Virginia to E. Commercial St. On E Commercial run East to 13th Street. Head North on 13th and then an immediate turn (East) onto Warde Rd. At the end of Warde turn South onto S Gilmore St. After a couple blocks on S Gilmore turn back West onto E Cypress and follow to the finish line.

💧 Water Station and Restrooms:

There will be a water stop approximately 1.75 miles into the race near the corner of E Commercial St and N. Virginia St. There are restrooms available at the park.
