Oakland Tech (Start), Oakland CA
Sunday, April 27th, 2025
The Ride 4A Reason event is set to take place on April 27, 2025, at Oakland Tech in Oakland, CA.
The first Ride 4A Reason occurred in 2008 with a group of four cyclists advocating for better education funding by riding from Oakland to Sacramento.
Since then, the event has grown, with over 300 participants pedaling from Oakland to the State Capitol to raise money for public schools and advocate for increased education funding.
Proceeds from the event are used for various school necessities such as library books, sports equipment, art education, and staff salaries for counselors and reading specialists.
As of 2023, the event has raised close to $1.62 million for public schools in Oakland and Alameda.
Recipient schools are those predominantly serving students who receive free or reduced lunch, English language learners, migrant students, and historically marginalized groups.
The funds raised directly benefit these schools by providing essential resources and support for their students and staff.
Claremont Middle School PTA is the fiscal sponsor for Ride for a Reason and is a 501(c)(3) organization with Tax ID 94-6171801.
Donations to the event are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
