🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

• Join us: for the 12th Annual Octoberfest - 5K, 10K, 20 Mile Bike & 1/2 Mile Kids Fun Run in Peru, NY.
• First event: The areas first RUN/BIKE event in the North Country!
• Date: 2024-10-19
• Location: Peru Fire Department, 753 Bear Swamp Road, Peru, NY

🎉 Race Experience

• Beautiful scenery: Runners, walkers, and bikers will enjoy an exhilarating run, walk, and bike through the Town of Peru & Peru's Apple Country while viewing the beautiful Adirondacks fall foliage.
• Post-race party: There will be a FREE post-race party following the race at the Peru Fire Department with live music, food/drinks, adult beverages, raffles and awards!
• Community support: The Octoberfest Event is an annual event to raise awareness and money to help the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation find a cure.
• In memory: The event is in memory of Robert “Chip” Hamilton, who was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in 2008.

💖 Chip's Legacy

• Struggles: Over time, Chip's ability to do daily tasks became very limited, requiring him to rely increasingly on his portable oxygen tank.
• First event: In 2010, Ruth Hamilton LaClair began the Octoberfest Event while her father, Chip was recovering from a lung transplant.
• Sad loss: Chip succumbed to his IPF from complications with the lung transplant on January 27, 2011.
• Continuing the tradition: Ruth has continued the event each year in his memory, supported by family and friends.
