Sponsored by the Blount County Education Foundation, Trot for Education offers a 5K and one-mile fun run/walk. Funds raised through the event benefit BCEF, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that delivers needed educational tools for the benefit of students and teachers in all Blount County Schools.
The 5K is a USATF-certified out-and-back course beginning and ending at the Clayton corporate offices parking lot.
Custom-designed unisex t-shirts will be reserved for participants who register before November 9. Runners will receive shirts at early packet pickup or on race day. Please note our shirt policy: Anyone registering after November 8 will receive a shirt only while supplies last. The shirt order will be placed on November 8, and when the inventory runs out in the RunSignUp system, no more shirts will be available: there will be no re-orders. Shirts not picked up will be donated. Shirts will not be held or mailed to participants.
We want to support ALL schools that come out to participate in the event! With that goal in mind, $1 from each entry will be donated back to the school that participant is representing. Every school that has registered participants will receive a check!
Additionally, the Top 3 Blount County Schools with the highest percentage of participation will earn bragging rights, a shiny trophy and will also receive a cash donation to their school!
As we are planning this annual event, we are planning for a great day of family fun for everyone! To stay up to date, participate in fun promotions and hear about our great sponsors, be sure to like our Facebook page. Trot For Education Facebook Page
CASH awards to the top 3 overall male and female. Unique awards in the following categories, both male and female:
Although the race is chip timed, awards are based on gun time per USATF regulations. Awards Ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 PM. Participants must be present to receive awards. Awards not picked up on race day will be donated and will not be shipped.
Assorted refreshments will be provided in the event tent after the race.
Due to insurance regulations, roller blades, strollers, bicycles, and dogs are not allowed on the course. Because part of the course may be open to traffic, we discourage the use of headphones. The 5K course closes in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Course support will not be available after that cutoff.
Complete results will be available on Run Sign Up Trot For Education website after the event.
We prioritize the safety of the participants, spectators, staff and volunteers first. Dangerous weather conditions pose a unique challenge to an event of any size, distance or location. Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event, with special attention placed on the possibility of heavy rain, sleet, thunder, lightning, high winds, extreme temperatures and humidity. Visible lightning occurring within 30 minutes of the scheduled start will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 30 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 30-minute increments up to a maximum of 2 delays. Race personnel reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race or modify the course due to inclement weather. There would be no refunds or transfers.
