Youβre invited to participate in Turning Point's signature event kicking off domestic violence awareness month which is observed in October. This event is Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Freedom Hill County Park located at 14900 Metropolitan Parkway, Sterling Heights, MI, 48312.
Turning Point and Tara's sister formed a partnership to honor her memory after Tara was tragically murdered in Macomb County by her husband in 2007. Sharing Tara's life story through this partnership increases awareness about the prevalence and dangers of domestic violence and helps prevent other families from experiencing a similar tragedy.
Turning Point provides comprehensive, free, and confidential programs for domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking survivors, their loved ones, and the community. Services include:
Serving Metro Detroit for more than 44 years, Turning Point has helped over 125,000 survivors.
Event activities are located under the large covered pavilion. Free parking is available in lots adjacent to the pavilion.
