Herzog 100

🏞️ Race Overview

A 13 mile looped course in the hills of west Kentucky overlooking the Ohio river, only a couple miles from the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail. No pavement to be found here as you make your way over the hills and through the hollers, on single and double track, technical trail. Through hardwood forest, dabbing into farm fields, passing beneath cliff top sailboats and sandstone overhangs, all on private land.

🌱 Grassroots Ethos

• Affordable Ultra: We’ve chosen to make it one of, if not the most, affordable ultra on the market: highlighting our love of running and desire to share the Herzog Trail with others.
• Aid Station: We will have an aid station and strive to make it delicious, functional, and accommodating.
• Real Food Focus: It is a low budget race and we will forgo having a big selection of powders and won’t have any gels: instead focusing on providing real food.
• Personal Gels: In our experience, most people prefer to bring whatever gels they know and use rather than what may be provided by us.

🗺️ Course Details

• Shortened Loop: We have shortened the loop from 20 to 13 miles to allow for more chances to utilize the aid station and/or your personal items.
• Monitoring: This change allows us to better monitor the course and cut out some of the more “boring” sections.
• Participant Limits: We have also opted to put a limit on the total number of participants: 40 mile- 20, 100k-20, 100 mile-15.
• Minimum Requirement: A minimum requirement of 8 registrants for the 100 mile. If the minimum is not met, any registered 100 mile participants will be automatically dropped to 100k.

🏅 Finisher Awards

There will be finisher medals for the 40 mile and 100k finishers and belt buckles for the 100 mile finishers.
