👟 Participants
The TXR Mile Challenge welcomes runners at all stages in their journey from the elite and seasoned athlete to the weekend warrior to the casual road runner who has always wanted to try track or cross-country. Our unique event format offers the distinctive opportunity to run three surfaces - track, grass, and pavement - within the same venue. Challengers will take on three separate races - each one mile - each timed separately. Each of the three races will be started and timed separately from one another. Cumulative times will be used for overall scoring.
⏰ Race Timing
All three miles must be started within the Starting Block and completed before the Finish Cutoff.
- Starting Block: 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- Finish Cutoff: Noon
📋 Race Strategy
You choose your strategy!
- Start lines: Each mile race has its own start line, finish line, and timing.
- Rolling start format: We will be employing a rolling start format at each start line
- (no group starts, no waves, no "On your mark, Go!"...enter the chute when you’re ready and the starter will send each waiting runner off several seconds apart)
- Electronic recording: Your runner # will be electronically recorded as you cross the start mat for each of the miles and your finish times will be calculated as you cross the finish mat for each of the miles.
- Choose your order: Choose the order best for you (Track then Road then XC: Road then XC then Track: etc. - there are 6 ways you can choose to complete your three mile events).
- Shoe changes: Have different running shoes you prefer for each mile? No problem! Much like the transition zones at a Triathlon, there will be an area where you can change shoes if that’s part of your strategy.
- Rest between races: Whether you prefer to go from one finish line right to the next starting line or you prefer to rest and hydrate between, the choice is entirely yours as long as you start your final mile by 11:30 am and complete it by Noon.
- Flexible strategy: You do NOT need to declare any part of your strategy in advance, so you are free to change your plan during your challenge as needed.
