Chicagoland SCADaddle 5K Walk & Run for Research

🏃‍♀️ Event Overview

Join us for the 12th annual Chicagoland SCADaddle to raise money for much-needed SCAD research. Participants are invited to participate in the 5K walk/run at their own pace on the trails through the Danada Forest Preserve.

❤️ Our Cause

• What is SCAD: Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little known and poorly understood type of heart attack.
• Who it Affects: SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms.
• Demographics: Most patients are younger healthy women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease.
• Need for Research: Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.

🏞️ SCADaddle Details

• Location: Our 5K chip-timed run/walk takes place at Danada Forest Preserve in Wheaton, IL.
• Course Type: The USATF certified 5K course runs through and around the park on a varied terrain of crushed cinder, concrete, sidewalk, and grass.
• Start Time: The run starts at 9:00 am and all participants will be timed.
• Post-Race: Following the race, join us for refreshments, vendors, our SCAD store & fun for all.

🏆 Awards

Awards will be given to overall winner male and female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place male/female overall and to the top three males/females for age groups: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and up.
