9/11 Memorial 5K and Kids' Run

The Middletown PBA presents to you: THE 4th ANNUAL 9/11 MEMORIAL 5K

Date: Saturday, September 13, 2025

Our local officers are staging a fundraising event in memory of the 37 Middletown residents who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The Middletown PBA Local 124 is creating a memorial scholarship for retired Deputy Chief Joseph Capriotti. Deputy Chief Capriotti began his career with the Middletown Twp. Police Department on July 15, 1982, and he served honorably until August 1, 2010. Capriotti carried out many different capacities during his career, but most memorable was the critical role he played in the Middletown Police Department's response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Joe responded to Ground Zero in the days and weeks following the attack, and he also personally notified every single Middletown family who had lost a loved one that day, something that was of utmost importance to him. As a result of Joseph's response to Ground Zero, he contracted cancer, which he eventually succumbed to in June 2019. It is with great honor that the PBA creates a scholarship fund in his name.

🏃‍♀️ Race Details

• Location: Middletown Train Station, 22 Church Street, Middletown, NJ
• Course: 5K course will be USATF certified and executed by local running club, The Shore Athletic Club.
• Route: Starts at the train station, goes out 1.55 miles and back on Middletown-Lincroft Road.
• Awards: Overall and age group awards grouped every 5 years will be given out after the kids run.

🗓️ Event Schedule

• 7:00 AM: Registration and Bib pick up
• 8:30 AM: 5K race and walk begins
• 9:45 AM: Kids run begins
• 10:00 AM: Awards

📋 Registration Information

• 5K Run & Walk: $25 until July 1st, $30 until September 11th, $40 on September 12th and 13th
• 1/2 Mile Kids' Run: $10 until July 1st, $15 until September 11th, $20 on September 12th and 13th
• Bib Pick Up: Friday, September 12, 2025, 3:30 - 5:30 PM at Middletown Train Station
• Official Timing: Chip timing and live results will be provided.
