Event Purpose: We are running in honor of Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty and raising funds to build a Fallen Officer Memorial on the University of North Georgia-Dahlonega Campus.
Memorial Details: This Memorial will have the names of the killed in the line of duty officers who graduated from UNG or worked for the UNG Police Department.
Date & Location: The race will take place on May 17, 2025, at the UNG Dahlonega Campus.
Course Description: The 5k race features a two-lap course around a magnificent fountain on campus, with approximately 400 feet of gain.
🏁 Race Details
Course Features: The last .25+ miles is a VERY fast gradual downhill into the finish line.
Water Station: A water station will be present at the round-about prior to starting lap number 2.
Course Surface: Half of the laps are on a walkway and the other half is on the road.
Participation: The race is welcome to runners and walkers, with a 1-hour time limit (approximately 20 min/mile).
🚫 Course Regulations
Time Limit: Course support and timing will not be provided for those not completing the course in 1-hour.
Strollers & Dogs: Strollers and dogs will not be permitted on the course due to safety barriers.
Headphones: Headphones are permitted but must be played at a low volume to hear other runners and race officials.
Registration: There is no race day registration.
📦 Packet Pick Up
Time: Packet Pick-Up will be from 6:30am-7:50am at the start/finish line, adjacent to the water fountain, and near the main entrance to campus.
Race Start: The race starts at 8am sharp.
🚗 Parking Information
Parking Restrictions: Parking will not be available at the start/finish line.
Availability: There will be plenty of street parking within close proximity to the start/finish line.
🏅 Awards
Finishers: All finishers within the 1-hour time period will receive a finisher's medal.
T-shirt Eligibility: All registrations by May 13, 2024, will receive a race t-shirt: late registrations may not.
Overall Awards: 1st place overall for M & F - $100, $75, $50.
Special Award: A special award will be given to the 1st Male and 1st Female, active or retired, law enforcement officer.
