🦸‍♂️ Race Description

Dust off your favorite cape and lace up your running (or walking) shoes and become a superhero for abused children through CAPES for Kids!

📜 Overview

• Event Purpose: CAPES for Kids is an annual 5K|10K & Kids Fun Run, held in honor of a 3-year old Carver Elementary School student, who lost her life due to physical abuse and neglect in 2011.
• Previous Name: Formerly known as the Carver C.A.P. Run, this event strives to honor her life, and the lives of children like her.
• Financial Support: All proceeds support quality services at the CARE House of the Pee Dee for children who have been abused and their families.

📅 Event Details

• Date: Saturday, May 3rd
• Location: Briggs Elementary School, 1012 Congaree Drive, Florence, SC
• Check-In: 7:00 AM - 7:45 AM
• Race Start: 5K & 10K at 8:00 AM: Kid's Fun Run at 9:30 AM

🏃‍♂️ Race Information

• Course Timing: The 5K & 10K courses begin at Briggs Elementary School at 8:00 AM.
• Early Arrival: All participants are encouraged to arrive to the race early to allow time for parking.
• Kids Fun Run Options: Participants can complete a short loop or a 1-mile loop: these events will not be timed.
• Costume Contest: Dress as your favorite superhero to enter our Costume Contest. Prizes will be awarded!

💰 Pricing & Registration

• Early Bird Registration: Open through March 31, 2025 - 5K: $35.00, 10K: $40.00
• Late Registration: April 1, 2025 - May 3, 2025 - 5K: $45.00, 10K: $50.00
• T-Shirt Guarantee: Register before Thursday, April 10th to guarantee a Race T-Shirt.
• KIDS FUN RUN: With Shirt: $20.00, Without Shirt: $5.00

🎽 Packet Pick-Up

We strongly encourage all participants to pick-up their race packets during Packet Pick-Up if possible.

• Date: Friday, May 2nd
• Time: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
• Location: The CARE House of the Pee Dee, 1920 Second Loop Road, Florence, SC 29501

🏆 Awards

• Overall Winners: Medals for top 3 in 5K and 10K, both Female and Male.
• Age Group Winners: Participants placing in top three in categories 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, etc., will receive a medal.
• Overall Placement: Note that if you place Overall, you will not also be awarded for your age group.
• Pets: Well socialized and friendly dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash and under supervision at all times.
