1 North Adventure Trails, Blanchard LA
Saturday, April 12th, 2025
This race is a beginner friendly twist on the traditional trail run. It will be held at 1North Adventure Trails in Blanchard. TTTTP is a different format than your traditional race. It's designed to make running fun by utilizing a game you've known since childhood....tic-tac-toe. You will be timed and your distance will be recorded but there will be no age groups and no overall winners. The goal is 3 X's in a row but there will be other ways to win as well.
The Rules:
Each runner will be given a race bib that has a tic-tac-toe board printed on it as well as their race number.
Runners will be directed to choose one of three out-and back or loop trails to run. The trails are of varying distance between .6 miles long and 2.0 miles in length. Players must run either A trail, B trail or C trail. Player must then return back to the start area and run a different trail. Players must run trails ABC in any order BEFORE repeating a trail. The minimum distance a runner is likely to run or walk is 5 miles, average will be about 7 miles. A player wanting to get a CAT (no 3 in a row of X's or O's) or a blackout (may have 3 in a row but the runner wants to fill every blank spot) will run a minimum of 12 miles and a maximum of 15.
While out on each trail, you will come to a gaming tent; there will a different type of selection game for each trail. Trail A: the runner will roll a 6 sided die that has an equal # of X's and O's. If the player rolls and X, then the player gets to decide where an X is placed on their tic-tac-toe bib. If a player rolls an O, the worker puts an O on the tic-tac-toe bib. Yes, they will be instructed to block you and no amount of begging on your part will dissuade them. Trail B: The worker will hold their fists out in front of them. One fist contains and X and the other an O; you must choose. You get X, you pick where it goes, you get O, the worker selects. Once again no whining, they're gonna be mean. Trail C: Worker flips a coin with an X and an O. They'll give you an option to reveal the coin in the palm or flip onto the back of their hand and reveal. You get what you get and you don't throw a fit.
X's will be marked with black sharpies (provided) and O's with red sharpies. (provided)
Ways to win:
1st back with 3 X's in-a-row and no O's-$50
1st back with a tic-tac-toe (this will probably be a person with three x's but in the case it isn't...I'll allow an O. $25.
1st back with 4 corners (4 X's with one in each corner)-$25
1st back with an X of X's-$25
1st back with an X of O's-$25
8 of a kind (X's or 8 O's)-Free Race Entry
1st back with CAT (Every box has an X or an O and no 3 in a row)-$50
***1st back with 3 O's (and nothing else. I will instruct volunteers not to give you 3 O's in a row-This shouldn't happen.
I don't think this will be a real technical course. There will be an aid station at the Start/Finish area. While it won't be a full on "Ultra quality" aid station because this isn't an Ultra; it will have more than you'd expect to find on a road course. I anticipate offering water at the turn-around point of each trail (the game table) but that table isn't far from the start/finish so it won't be a full on aid station. I'm also looking for volunteers for the game table and I am offering race credits to future events.
I'm thinking cake and ice cream at the finish. Also, it's BYOB and if you do that, then BRDAB.
I AM PRICINGTRIATHLON BIB belts AS A GIVEAWAY-THAT'S THE PLAN-WILL SAY "TIC-TAC-TOE TRAIL PARTY" ON IT.
Packet Pickup- PPU will be at the Run Wild store in Shreveport on Thursday 10/09 and Friday 10/10 from 10 am til 6 pm.
