💖 Honoring Nathan's Legacy

The Nathan Syrek Memorial 5K honors the legacy of Nathan Syrek, who passed into heaven at the age of 19 after a courageous battle with cancer. This annual charity event celebrates Nathan’s spirit of kindness and faith while raising funds to support a local family with a child facing significant challenges.

👶 Supporting Millie Jolene

This year, we are honored to support Millie Jolene and her family. Millie Jolene was born in September 2017 with a rare genetic disorder called MFDM, affecting her heart, brain, bones, spine, and organs. One of her most critical conditions was a failure of her esophagus to develop and connect properly, requiring extensive surgeries. Despite complications requiring additional surgeries, Millie continues to undergo treatment at Boston and Cincinnati Children’s Hospitals. Now seven years old, she has endured more than 25 surgeries and exemplifies resilience in every way. Having walked a similar path with Nathan’s battle against cancer, we deeply empathize with the Conran family and their ongoing challenges.

🏅 Inclusive Participation

This inclusive 5K (or 1 mile walk) is perfect for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities—you can run, walk, or even opt for a shorter version if you prefer. It’s not about the finish time: it’s about coming together for a meaningful cause. (But don’t worry, it’s still a 5K, and someone will be first over the finish line—so avid runners, lace up and join us too!).

🚧 Course Details

• Terrain: The 5K route winds through the orchard with varied terrain that may be soft or muddy—after all, it’s spring in Michigan!
• Family-Friendly: For those with strollers or wagons, we recommend the 1-mile walk, which follows a firmer, established path for a smoother experience.
