❓ FAQs
Weather Policy: It says rain or shine but what about 50 mph winds or twisters? In the case of severe weather, the walk portion will be cancelled for that day and we will relocate the rest of the event to 13 Below Brewery from 12-2 pm, and you can complete the walk virtually any time in the month of June. Fingers crossed we don’t need it though!
Support Options: I’ll be out of town/swimming with dolphins/working/otherwise busy, is there any way I can still support this? You can also register to do the virtual walk (walk a mile in location of your choice in month of June), buy a shirt, donate online, become a sponsor, make a basket for the raffle, or send us good vibes the week of :)
Event Attendance: Do I have to walk to attend the picnic/can I just do the walk? You can do whatever your heart desires! All welcomed choices.
Getting There: How do I get to your event? There are two entrances for the park: one off Mt. Hope Rd and one off West Rd. There will be signs guiding you at turns to get to the lake/harbor/playground area.
🎟️ Admission Details
Park Access: Do I have to pay to get into the park? Miami Whitewater is a Great Parks of Hamilton County that usually requires an admittance fee, but for our Flutterby friends, it’s on us!
Event Location: Where specifically in the park is the event? We will be in Harbor Point, which is the big grassy area between the snack bar and the lake.
🧺 What to Bring
Essentials: Bring a blanket and/or chairs for the picnic party afterwards, a cooler for your lunch/snacks, bug spray, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, water bottles (especially if you’re walking), and cash for donations.
Pets: Are friendly dogs allowed? Yes, please! We love to see your furry family members, but please keep them on a leash at all times.
Bikes/Scooters: Since we are sharing the loop with the general public, we ask that no bikes/scooters are used during the walk, but feel free to zip around the park afterwards!
Strollers/Wagons: Yes, strollers/wagons are an exception for convenience.
🍽️ Food & Refreshments
BYOP: This is a BYOP event (bring your own picnic!).
Food Options: There is a snack bar located directly behind our event area, and numerous restaurants are located on New Haven Road and Harrison Ave ten minutes from the park.
📶 Internet & Connectivity
Reception: How’s the wifi/internet/cell reception at the park? Our experience varies: please keep in mind that the reception may be spotty in that part of the park.
