👟 The 29th Annual YMCA Livestrong 5K Walk/Run
Lace up your sneakers and get training! The YMCA 5K Run and Fun Walk is just around the corner. This exciting day is full of activities all to support recovery and reconnection for cancer survivors through LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA.
With this funding, cancer survivors may participate in the LIVESTRONG program at no cost to them.
🏃♂️ Create a Team Today
- Team Leaders Needed: We are looking for team leaders to invite friends and loved ones to join them in raising funds for cancer survivors.
- Participation: Team members can walk or run with you on the day of the event or make a donation to support your goal.
- Team Prizes: Awards will be given for top fundraising team, largest team, and more!
❤️ In Memory of Janice Garbolino
The YMCA 5K Run and Fun Walk is held in memory of Janice Garbolino, former Health & Wellness Director of the Metuchen Branch YMCA, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2002. The annual 5K run/walk supports the YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge, and South Amboy in providing a free exercise program for cancer survivors called LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA which assists those who are living with, through, or beyond cancer to strengthen their bodies, minds, and spirits.
🕒 Race Information
- 7:30 am: Registration, Bib and T-shirt Pick Up (T-shirts are not guaranteed and are no longer available for day-of registrants).
- Food & Fun: Bagels, Bananas and Snacks, Zumba, DJ.
- 8:30 am: Shot Gun Start for Runners followed by Walkers. A special walk around the lake is being introduced this year!

- Finisher Medals
- Top 3 Overall Male / Female / Non-Binary
- Top 3 Male & Female in 10-year age groups starting at 14 and under and going to 80+
- Fundraising Awards for Top Teams and Individual Fundraisers
